Informing work early in pregnancy

Hi, just a bit of advice please. I’m 7weeks due to go back to work at 9weeks, should I let my manager know I’m pregnant? My role is meeting kids and parents, socially distancing at the moment but don’t want to put baby and me at risk. Am I over reacting?

I am working from home and told my manager so that I could continue to WFH and for risk assessments.

Yes, I'd be telling them so a risk assessment can be done.

@FluffyKittensinabasket and @1990shopefulftm, that’s what I thought. Didn’t want to say anything until 12weeks and blood tests (I am not a young mum), but if I tell my manager and ask her to keep it to herself until then I am sure she will. Just don’t want to jinx it, quite like just mine and my partners little secret surprise at the moment

@Maybe3ornot If you ask her not to tell other people, she should respect that, I told my manager at 8 weeks, the day lockdown started and she only told HR until I told my colleagues at 12 weeks.

I would speak with your community midwife for advice. I told work early as she said it was the right thing to do

I work for a huge public sector organisation, I might feel less comfortable telling my manager if I worked at a small company.

I told my manager at around 6 weeks. I was feeling really sick and nauseous and tired so had to explain why I wasn't online the whole time. My manager said she wouldn't tell anyone else until I decided to share the news. But it now means I can log on later on in the day, have naps in the afternoon and work through the evening. They've also reallocated some work to make sure I am coping so was a positive experience for me.
