Still lucozade in a cup that had a straw that went to the bottom of the cup so I could drink in any position. Was great when I was threatened with a drip from being sick too much, thankfully it kept me going, small sips

I didn't want to eat in labour. However, afterwards my stash of cereal bars came in very handy when I was on the postnatal ward in the middle of the night absolutely ravenous.

I took cereal bars, but I ended up being sick so I didn't eat them until afterwards on the ward.

The midwives kept trying to feed me lucozade and toast during labour but I couldn't even look at it!

I didn't eat anything but I did was 6cm when I got to hospital so definitely wasn't thinking about food! My midwives had suggested getting some lucozade sport for labour, I bought a 4 pack and DH was giving me sips when I needed them, ended up drinking the whole r pack and I have never touched it since 🤢 just the thought of it makes me feel so sick! If you take drinks vary them up a bit 😂🙈

I would bring quite a lot of food. Although you might not want to eat during labour I was ravenous afterwards. They brought me some toast which didnt touch the sides but I'd missed dinner so wouldnt then get food until breakfast.
Also bring food for your partner as they're not provided with anything.

I was induced with the hormone drip and had an epidural so I couldn't eat anything but I did drink a lot of water. One thing that helped me was a flannel with ice inside so I could dab it on my forehead as I was so hot! My DH went to the coffee shop inside the hospital and got me ice from there 😊

I found glucose sweets good to munch on between contractions. Thing I wanted the most though was water - pints and pints of it. Make sure your partner knows where the water fountain is early on in the procedure and keeps your water bottle topped up! For after the birth I recommend protein flapjacks and bounce bars. Good luck with everything!

The hospital came round with a plate of cheese and biscuits just as I went into delivery suite. During the labour I ended up hallucinating and seeing everyone's head as a wheel of cheese. At points when I was pushing I was screaming the word cheese! One of my strongest memories of the birth 😂

Both my (both loooong) labours involved copious vomiting and I had no desire whatsoever to eat. I found sipping water essential but I just immediately threw up if I drank anything else. I’m never sick normally! When I had DS 8 weeks ago I knew DH wouldn’t be able to stay long/allowed back in after the birth (Covid) so I stocked up on jelly beans and custard creams (sophisticated I know) to eat afterwards. Good luck!
