Covid Test

Has anyone had a covid test while pregnant? Other half has been feeling grotty with temp etc so we've booked him a test (and obviously I have to be tested too as we live together). Just wondering how it went because although my morning sickness has been great for a while certain things, including my toothbrush going too far back and coughing, still set it off. I'd really prefer not to vom in my car 🙈.

I've had 3 done whilst I was 16/17 weeks as my partner had the symptoms. The swan your tonsils first which will make you gag but if you say ahhhh it stops that feeling and then do your nose. Can never do my nose for long as I'm prone to sneezing fits but mine came back negative throughout. You will be fine

You don't have to get a test if he has symptoms or even if he's positive. You only have to get a test if you have symptoms. If he has it and has infected you then it may have only been a day or so ago which would mean you wouldn't test positive yet even if you had it so it would be pointless!

I have to have one next week before my planned section. I’m still being sick everyday so I’m dreading it!

@FirstTimeMama36 thank you for your tip about saying ahh! Also good to know its not as bad as the horror stories people seem to love to share!

@Sanch1 the booking website gave the option to book 3 people you live with in for the test too, no harm getting it done to be sure. For all we know I could be asymptomatic and could be the one giving it to him if it comes back positive 🤷‍♀️.

@ODFOkaren good luck with it and the csection! Firsttimemamas reply was reassuring so hopefully you'll be fine 😊

I had one when I was 4/5 weeks pregnant and was sick in the car! I'd only been feeling a bit nauseous until then so it took me by surprise, take some wet wipes or tissues just in case....

@BeHappyAndSmile no problem it's just not pleasant but has to be done. All 3 in our household had it done. It was more for peace of mind. My partners came back positive but us other 2 were negative and we all had another done at the end of 2 weeks and all came back negative.
