Sorry if this has been done I've searched but couldn't find what I was looking for.

So I'm 19 weeks pregnant and I've only put on 4lbs/2kg. Is anyone else in the same position? I'm not underweight 5ft6 72kg pregnancy now 73 sometimes 74kg. This is my second pregnancy in 7 years. I go to the gym once a week but that's it. I eat the same as before.

Just wondering if this seems ok? I don't have another midwife appointment till October I believe so can't ask her.

You can ring your midwife if you're worried but I don't think you have need to be. I think you put most of the weight on between 20 and 30 weeks so you'll probably see your weight increase from now.

I didnt gain a single pound til 22 weeks, and then I put on 11 pounds between 22 and 29 weeks (which I am now).

It's perfectly fine not to gain weight by 19 weeks. Things are still developing in there and the baby is very small. The main growing is done from 23 weeks or so. Just make sure you are eating enough and eating healthily. My midwife actually told me at my 28 week appointment that I need to eat more now. But dont panic. You are completely normal.

Thank you. With my first I put on a about 1 stone by now. I'll just keep an eye out o St the next few weeks hopefully I don't put on 2 stone in 2 weeks lol!

Yes it is normal, I started at 71.5 so very similar to you and at 19 weeks had put 1kg on, now 27 weeks and have put on 4.5 in total so it does go up! As PP have said it mostly goes on after 20 or so weeks.

I wouldn’t worry. I’d only put on 5-6lb by 20 weeks but have chunked it on over the last month despite being really careful. Most of its water but I think 2nd trimester tends to be when the major gains come. I didn’t put on much in my third trimester last time as felt too full of baby to want food!

Hi OP I actually lost weight in the beginning of my pregnancy, I was 5ft 8 and 10st 10 at the beginning, then 10st 2 until about 30 weeks.

This was mainly because I got pregnant just after a very boozy and food filled Christmas! Obviously being pregnant I watched more that I ate more healthy things and no booze which meant that I didn’t put any weight on really until toward the end. I wouldn’t be worried at all.

I'm 17 weeks and still under my start weight. (had a healthy bmi to start) I've been gaining a lb a week for a couple of weeks now but still under what I started at.

Superscientist · 16/08/2020 09:42

I finished my pregnancy only 16lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight (+7lb extra if you go from my lowest pregnancy weight) and all was ok. My midwife checked my weight a few times during pregnancy and wash happy with my gains. I kept an eye on my monthly weight gain in the 2nd and start of the 3rd trimester I gained 2-4lbs a week, then 4-5 lb a month for the last 1 1/2 month. I had pregnancy sickness on and off throughout my pregnancy which didn't help and my appetite stayed the same as before. I'm 7 days post partum and am back at my pre-pregnancy weight with a healthy happy baby.

Keep an eye on your weight, slow and steady weight gain isn't necessarily an issue. There were a few weeks at the start of my 3rd trimester when it was really hot when I started losing weight so I had to make more of a conscious effort to a little more and stay more hydrated.

*2-4lbs a month during 2nd trimester/ early 3rd

Hi OP, your gain sounds normal to me. I'm 19 weeks, 5ft5 and was 61kg at 12 wk appt, and now 63kg, so similar amount of gain. I'm eating normally and exercising when I can (not often).
I think we've got the major weight gain still to come 🤰

Sounds exactly the same as me. I weighed about the same at that gestation. I’m now 35weeks and weigh 76kg. So still not masses, but apparenty my bump measures on the large side!!! I wouldnt worry!
