Getting a bit panicky - I’d love to hear your positive experiences. Second baby if that makes any difference.

Yes, my daughter had a back to back delivery in under an hour on a few intakes of gas and air. Don't let others scare you.

Number 1 - on a drip, turned at the last push and then shot out.

Number 2 - born facing the wrong way, in the pool, no other pain relief, fairly “normal” labour of 24 hours.

Number 3 - contractions which didn’t do very much for about 12 hours. Turned during a sweep when I went in for a check up. Born an hour later.

If I could go back and do number 1 again, I would be even more forceful about them trying to keep me on the bed lying down because I was on a drip and being monitored. But yes, it can be ok. Good luck!

2nd baby, discovered to be back to back when I was having confusing contractions in the pool (coming and going, after a pretty fast labour with DD1). Born in the pool with no other pain relief and no tearing, and he was just under 10lb!

In hindsight I think my first baby may have been back to back too and no-one told me? Certainly I didn’t notice anything different about the 2nd stage.

DS was back to back but I was only told/it was found out in the middle of labour. Scared the bejesus out of me as I’d heard horror stories (not needed in the midst of labour!) I only had G&A though and it seemed to all be OK pain-wise in the end.

This time though, I’m stipulating in my notes that I don’t wish to be told if baby is back to back.

Two back to back labours, slow but absolutely fine with minimal pushing both times.

First baby I had a five hour active labour that began back to back and the baby turned (possibly aided by positions I was helped to get in to try and enable this) during. It was all straight forward, I had some paracetamol and was just wondering about gas and air but by then I was already at the pushing stage.

DD2 born back to back, had no idea until she appeared. She also had her arm next to her face. Two hours from waking up to delivery, gas and air only, no tears or issues.

My third was back to back, born at home.

I lent on the sofa by leaning on my knees & used hypnobirthing techniques. I bent over the sofa during a contraction to extend my pelvis & back.
She rotated in my pelvis & came out right side up then.
She was my longest labour of 2.5 hours but I had false starts for 2 weeks.

First was back to back when seen at one thirty midwife sent me home as not in labour only three cams dilated. Sent home with advice re leaning on a gym ball. Born less then three hours later with paramedics so no idea if she turned or not! Second one was engaged then back to back then oblique then transverse and then engaged!

Assuming you mean you’re not yet in labour and you’ve been told baby is back to back? Whatever position she/he is in before labour isn’t necessarily the same as at the start of labour, and he/she will also rotate during labour, if that helps at all as well

Thanks everyone! I’m 37\38 weeks and baby was back to back at midwife appointment so just looking for other people’s experiences to balance out the negative stories that are everywhere!
I have an Osteopath appointment for next week to help, and have been doing the Spinning Babies exercises, so hopefully this little one will move. I’m having a home birth and my first labour was only 7 hours beginning to end, so hoping this time will be the same, or similar Smile
