Cannot chill

I am due to have a 10 week scan next week and I cannot chill. I have read so many stories about women going to scans just to be told there is no heart beat and I’ve done my own head in with it.

This will be our 4th baby. We have had a miscarriage before but I bled and it was painful so very obvious what was happening.

I need to chill out but I can’t seem to. Has anyone else felt like this?

I think it's really common to feel like this. I was so anxious for my first scan, I felt like a fraud going into the scan room having convinced myself they would tell me I was lying and that there was nothing there!

Wishing you all the best Flowers

Hi OP!

I too am on my 4th baby. I have a scan booked for next week too when I should be around 8+6.

I totally get where you are coming from. With me, and I was the same with our 3rd, is I kept thinking “surely we can’t be so lucky to have a 3rd (in this case 4th) healthy baby?” It feels as if I am pushing my luck.

I have been an anxious mess since I found out! Reading into my symptoms, if they feel better, oh that cramp felt strong etc etc.

Fingers crossed for us, let me know how you get on!

Thank you @IHTC.

@PowPurry, I think it is exactly that!! I didn’t feel this way at all with the first 2. I then had the miscarriage and was perpetually on tenterhooks for the entirety of my 3rd. Now I think I do feel like I’m pushing my luck.

My scan is on Thursday so will let you know. Good luck for your scan, and let me know how it goes!

Turns out my scan was yesterday not today. The doc said everything was looking good. I came home and had a bit of spotting though, which I’ve never had with previous pregnancies. Am going to take it very easy today and hope it’s nothing more than spotting.

Apparently in France I have to go see my gyny every month, and he said that he’ll give me a scan at each appointment because he might as well if I’m there!

My next scan is the 3rd of September, so fingers crossed the spotting buggers off and everything is okay.

Hi again op. Great news about the scan. Was it abdominal or vaginal? If the latter the spotting may be something to do with that?

I can’t believe this, but I have started spotting tonight, just as we were going to sing happy birthday to our eldest. Same as you, it’s never happened to me before. To say I am panicking is an understatement.

I hope everything is ok with you.

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 20/08/2020 22:33

It was an abdominal scan but I’ve convinced myself that because he had to really press hard to get a good view it may be a natural consequence.

I decided to absolutely take the day off today. I have relaxed and let my husband fo everything and thankfully, so far, I’ve had no more spotting. If you can, maybe have a sofa day tomorrow, drink a lot of water and try to stay calm (I struggled this morning but I feel a lot more relaxed now).

I read that a third of women have spotting during pregnant, without problem, so hopefully that’s what we’re both having. Saying that, if tomorrow you’re still worried definitely give your gyny a call and arrange a check.

Sending love your way. Fingers crossed for us both xxx

Yes fingers crossed op.

I haven’t had any correspondence from anyone yet but I do have an EPU so if anything happens tonight I’ll give them a call tomorrow. If not it’s a long old wait for Sunday for the private scan I booked.

Yes the stats are slightly reassuring, but I think when it’s happening to you in real time it’s hard not to think of the worst case Sad

Sleepless nights ahead for both of us.

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 24/08/2020 17:16

Hi @PowPurry, hope the scan went well on Sunday.

Hi @NotThatKindOfDoctor so sorry I thought I updated this thread.
All was ok, saw a little blob with a beating heart.
I’ve had no more bleeding. Booking appt tomorrow!
Are you ok?

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 25/08/2020 18:16

Great news!

No more bleeding here either so feeling a lot better.

Hopefully we’re in for a less stressful time now!

I had another big bleed last night after sex, so I’m assuming that’s what it was last time. Last night there was a lot more of it though!
Had my booking in with midwife today and she wasn’t too concerned. She said if it happens any other time to let them know.

Your 12 week scan can’t be that far away now?

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 25/08/2020 19:33

It’s on the 3rd September so not long at all. I’m a bit nervous about it because apparently I’m an ‘old’ mum (I’m only 37!). Just another thing for me to worry myself about Grin

Btw...I’m so impressed you’re feeling up to having sex! I have felt so gross the last few weeks it’s not even crossed my mind.

Fingers crossed you have no more bleeding, it’s good that your midwife wasn’t concerned though.

OP posts:
PowPurry · 25/08/2020 21:26

Ah don’t worry about that. We’ve had one good scan so chances are in our favour.
No not long at all! I’m only 9 weeks today so another long 3 weeks to wait for mine.

And as for that.. I too have been feeling ultra physically rubbish since being pg. But I must admit, pregnancy does something to me where I feel really woman-ly like? My insecurities sort of dissipate a bit. ‘Tis quite nice to let go. Primal almost?

Saying that ask me again when I have a gargantuan bump in the way and I can barely see anything waist down let alone do the sex Grin
