I’m hoping someone is able to reassure/ help me. My partner and I have been off contraception since December 2019 at the beginning if August took a test which was positive 1-2 weeks going from fdlp I’d be 2+4 weeks which I know is early to find out. I have had pink/ brown/ red spotting only a small amount for the past week and have taken multiple tests which confirm positive still. Midwife has said they will not speak to me till 6 weeks however I am conserved although I have no cramping or pain that it could be sign of mc however other threads people have said they have had a successful pregnancy with these symptoms.

What can I do shall I persist with midwife or contact my GP and discuss concerns all that I can gather from research is that if I do MC I will know which isn’t much reassurance!

Spotting is really normal, especially at this early stage - it could just be implantation bleeding. Try not to worry too much, there’s nothing you can do and it’s not necessarily a bad sign!

Hi, I’m the same as you. This is my second pregnancy but unfortunately I lost the first one by 8 weeks-baby stopped developing and was 6 weeks in size. That time I had a lot of dark brown discharge that just got heavier until bad cramps came and red. The brown started nearly two weeks before the red came.

Anyway, this time I am 4 weeks 6 days today (I think, I got pregnant straight after MC but I know when I ovulated) and past two days I’ve had some light brown discharge. I’d already had some around 8/9dpo so I thought that was my implantation bleed, so not sure why I have more now so obviously has scared me. My only saving grace so far is that it’s much lighter in colour than last time and mixed with discharge. I just hope it doesn’t get worse and goes away soon. I had a fair amount on tissue after a 💩 yesterday morning but nothing after that. So I’m dreading needing to go no2 today. Been wearing a liner but it’s like I dried up for the rest of yesterday after all that CM came out after toilet. I think it’s still tinged though. How are you getting on? Sorry I can’t offer much advice as I don’t know myself but you aren’t alone we’re in this together xxx

I'm on my 3rd pregnancy and have had brown spotting/discharge with each. With my 1st it carried on until about 16 weeks.
Then with the others until about 10 weeks.
I have also had a miscarriage at 6 weeks prior to these pregnancies. The bleeding turned to red very quickly and I was in so much pain, not just your normal cramps.

Very early miscarriage (under 6 weeks) is very common and there's nothing medically they need to do so they won't see you until the pregnancy is established (it used to be 12 weeks when I had mine, thankfully it's now earlier) remember it's not that long ago that pregnancy tests weren't accurate until later, I like many had "late" periods which in reality were miscarriages. Try to relax and see what happens, honestly early testing causes so much anguish

Hey there, I’m 6 wks along and have had spotting also. I read the cervix is a lot more sensitive during pregnancy and found pink discharge after wiping a day or two after intercourse or a transvaginal scan! My midwife told me that it’s pretty common during these early weeks and to only be concerned if bleeding becomes more pronounced, bright red and more like a period.

Thank you all for your messages, it’s hard not to worry 🙈
The spotting has changed and turned into blood (dark colouring)!however no clots and no cramping- I don’t know wether it’s worthwhile contacting my GP?

@AL2020 its a tricky one because your not 6 weeks. This is the problem I’ve had. If you were getting pain I think they would want to check for ectopic but no pains good. The gp wanted to examine me for ectopic and I asked her how she would know from an examination and she said I would touch your cervix and if it hurts then I would send you to epau. I said I think I wouldn’t like it even when not preg for my cervix to be touched. I felt it’s too early to be messed with so I left it. How much are you getting, have you taken pics? X

AL2020 · 17/08/2020 16:47

@Pugprincess I think a lot of people would find that uncomfortable regardless, I know I’m only 3 weeks today so feel in limbo and from other threads seems pointless to take repeated tests to check. I haven’t taken any photos but it has been enough to wear a panty liner I’d say throughout the past few days it’s been 1/4 of an egg cups worth. I don’t want to hassle the GP if there is nothing they can do, didn’t know wether to just sit tight for another 3/4 weeks then pay for a private scan. Ideally would like to have bloods to check HCG levels.
Thanks for your response finding out so early just adds to the worry 🤦🏻‍♀️

Unfortunately if you are having a miscarriage there is nothing a Doctor, GP or midwife can do for you. Miscarriages and chemical pregnancies are very common. Unless you are in severe pain or losing lots of blood nobody will see you this early on.

All you can do is try to stay calm and wait. As others have said it could be implantation bleeding or discharge.

Pugprincess · 17/08/2020 18:25

@AL2020 aw so you say 3 weeks and testing early so I assume your AF date hasn’t passed yet?

Pugprincess · 19/08/2020 09:02

How’s everyone getting on? X
