Hello,

I had my 12 weeks scan more than 3 weeks ago at St Thomas. The sonographer told me the report will be sent by post. I am still waiting as of today. I asked the midwife and she told me to contact the Fetal Medicine Unit, but I've been trying for days and none picks up. When did you receive yours?

Hi!
I live in Manchester so it may be different but they usually produce the report at your appointment up here and doctors check it and what not. I’d keep pestering, from personal experience when my little boys cleft lip was detected at the anomaly scan they told me straightaway, so I imagine no news is good news so try not to let your mind runaway with you as difficult as it is! Keep pestering though for sure!! Xx

With all three of mine it’s just been typed up straight after the appointment. Did they talk everything through with you on the day and this is just a repeat of that in the notes? To be honest I think if anything was wrong you’d have been told then and there and they’d have followed up. That’s definitely not good to have to wait that long though OP

Hi @Emma5557 - congratulations on your pregnancy and hope you get your report soon!

I hope you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take once you had referred yourself to get your booking in appointment, and how far along were you? I’m going to St Thomas too, am coming up to 9 weeks and haven’t heard anything. Did they send you a letter? Did you get your date for the bloods/urine and 12 week scan at the same time? And Has everything been at the hospital or on the phone/with your GP? Sorry for the million questions! Desperate to know when I’ll be seen! Thank you.

@Emma5557

I know it’s a bit different in Scotland. But I never found out blood test results or downs screening results from my 12 week scan until I actually asked at my next midwife appointment at around 15/16 weeks.

I would imagine that if someone was wrong they would probably get in touch with you quite quickly? I was told that if something was flagged up someone would contact me within 2 weeks of the 12 week scan.

Hi @Anteater5 sorry to jump in but I'm at St Thomas' too. I was booked in crazy early - I think like 5 weeks? It was less than a week after I filled in the online referral form, a midwife just rang me out of the blue and was like "are you ok to talk for a bit now?" I think it was that they were all working from home then and perhaps just a bit more efficient with things like that, or maybe I got lucky.

At 9 weeks I would definitely be trying to get somebody on the phone. You'll need your first scan booked soon and that can't happen until you've been booked in. I've had nothing to do with my GP, it's all been through the hospital midwives. Having said that, it might be worth getting your GP to chase them up on your behalf? As you don't even have a named midwife yet to contact.

I had my bloods/urine done on the same day as my 12 week scan, which was this last Monday. I never received a letter for this, just a text confirmation after verbally making the app't with the midwife on my booking in call.

@Emma5557 I wasn't even told about a scan report, just spoke to the sonographer about everything looking ok, and the combined screening results went up on the app the same day, so I'm not really worried about/expecting anything beyond that. Are you using the Maternity Notes app? Anything on there?

Thanks all for the replies
Today the midwifery team sent me the report by email. I was surprised I finally got a reply from them!

@Anteater5 i filled the form online when I was around 7weeks and I got a text few days after from st Thomas with the confirmation of the scan date. The midwife called me after other 10 days out of the blue just to ask the basic questions around my health and pregnancy.
You should have the first scan by the end of week 13 so I think it's better if you call the hospital next week. If you haven't heard from them.

@elfran I was waiting for the report just because the sonographer told me I should receive it within 2 weeks. During the scan the sonographer told me that everything was fine, but did not really talked me through the results. I am using the app and I noticed it has been updated on the same day of the scan with the results of combined screening test, but since also the midwife told me to check with the hospital when I spoke with her during my last appointment, I thought to ring the hospital and ask for it. I've received the report today and I can say that it doesn't have much more info than the one already available in the app!

@Anteater5 I forgot to mention that all appointments are on the phone. The first face to face will be around 28weeks. They will check blood and urine during your scan appointment. You will get the instructions to download an app where you will be able to see the test results. However results of blood/urine are available only after your 16weeks appointment with the midwife.
Unfortunately you need to attend the scan appointment alone.. my husband waited for me outside the hospital. I asked the sonographer if I could take a video and it wasn't a problem at all.

Oh, good to know @Emma5557 I guess I'll be expecting a scan report at some point! Although the screening results were my main concern so I'll wait until it decides to show up or I can talk to my midwife.

I think some teams are starting to do irl appointments now... I have my 16 week at the end of this month in person. My midwife offered me the choice and we both said we'd prefer to meet in person. However I'm with the caseload team for my area so they may have more flexibility than others.
