How long did you have period pain for before labour started?

Second pregnancy but don’t remember the last time (even though it was only 3 years ago!)
I’ve been getting period type pain every now and then - definitely not contractions. Just wondered how long you experienced this for before labour started? Days, weeks?

Every night for about a week - so annoying!

Ihaveoflate · 13/08/2020 20:28

3 days of fairly consistent and painful period type pains. I thought they were contractions and then they really started and felt completely different - all in my bottom!

I woke up around 4am with mild period pains which got slowly stronger. Baby was born that afternoon.

About ten minutes the first time, twenty minutes the second time. I speed labour!

Pebblexox · 13/08/2020 20:32

I didn't have any period pain, just a funny tummy for a couple days. My sister however had mild period like cramps for 5 weeks before labour. So I think it can be person dependant.

@IdrisElbow I was the same. Period pains for two weeks. Went for my sweep at 38 weeks because I was fed up of said period pains and was 3cm dilated fully effaced. Gave birth 4 days later.

Rumtopf · 13/08/2020 20:41

I woke at midnight with niggles, waters went at 2am and she was born at 4am the following day.

Napqueen1234 · 13/08/2020 20:44

The night before. Fingers crossed!

Cotswoldmama · 13/08/2020 20:56

No pain at all before labour. Waters broke and then about 20 minutes later contractions were every 5 mins.

maryd84 · 13/08/2020 21:01

3 weeks so far🙁
I've had it since 37 weeks. I'm 40 weeks tomorrow.

Whatthebloodyell · 13/08/2020 21:10

6:00 hours.

Melbs6 · 13/08/2020 22:06

I’ve been having period pains for 2-3 weeks now. I’m 39 weeks tomorrow and still no signs of anything progressing further 🙁 it’s weird that I’m actually wishing stronger pains on myself. 😂

addictedtotheflats · 13/08/2020 22:14

3 hours. Gave birth 30 hours later, I was in what I would consider proper labour for about 24 hours. First baby

annlee3817 · 13/08/2020 22:19

3 hours before my waters started to go and then my contractions started soon after

TwinkleStars15 · 14/08/2020 08:49

Thanks everyone! I was getting a few period type pains last night and just wondered if it could be the start of something. They stopped (or at least I slept through them) but have a tummy ache this morning so we’ll see. With my previous labour, contractions just started and were every few minutes very quickly! The whole thing was 7 hours start to finish, but they do say that every pregnancy and birth is different, so we’ll see what happens this time! Thanks again.

More period pain tonight, not cramps as such, just an ache. Reckon I’m in for the long haul this time!
