Pethidine injections for pain relief

Has anyone had a Pethidine injection for pain relief and did it help? I hear so much about epidurals and gas and air but no one ever mentions this. In fact I never heard of it until I just saw it on the NHS website

Had this with my first as I was very against the idea of an epidural.

It was fantastic I fell asleep. Little did I know Ofcourse the contractions carried on so when I woke up and it had started to wear off it was agony and my body hadn't had the time to get use to the change in pain. My baby didn't breastfeed and that's also a side effect apparently.

Would I have it again? Yes.

Even if you say no until you're in labour it's hard to say what you'll agree to
