Hi ladies

3 week old baby. Having issues with digestion/wind. When laid flat she's unsettled drawing legs up grunting. Feeds a lot. 3/4oz every 2/3 hours.
Having issues putting her to sleep at night. Constantly wants to drink.
We only get one poo every 1/2 days. Poo is normal but an explosion when it comes.

She's on cow and gate first milk and feel this possibly isn't working for us.

Any recommendations for the best
Formula milk please as want to try something else to see if this helps?

We have used Hipp for all three without issues, but then our babies seem to have no problems in that department.

Some babies get rid of wind both ways (up and down) if you put them on their tummy. Worked for our DS.

I had the same issue and just switched my 3 week old from cow and gate to aptamil, she is now pooing about twice a day and isn't in pain when doing it.

@fee1234 that's really interesting. I'm sure the pooping issue is half our problem with the not settling. Although I don't see a huge amount of difference in the ingredients 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi @clo1992

I could of written this post two weeks ago. My daughter was exactly the same.

She is now on prescribed milk with CMPA and is doing sooooo much better. Regular poos, no discomfort and settles and sleeps quicker and easier.

It may be worth ringing the health visitor or gp as they will give you some advice.

It could be a range of things e.g reflux, constipation etc. Try keeping baby upright after feeds for a little while and if you can tilt the crib slightly so baby is elevated. That seems to help my little one with the bringing legs up to belly discomfort.

Hope you get it sorted. It's awful for the little ones but I was starting to loose the plot because I felt my daughter never settled, so I feel for you too. Xx

@polkadotx
I just no something isn't right even tho people are like she's just a baby they cry. :(
Something isn't right. I did phone HV today and she said it's worth trying to change milk over to something else.
I'm scared it may upset her tummy but I guess I have to be brave and try it.

Can I ask how you changed Yours over ? HV said to literally just do it. I didn't no weather to introduce slower?

I'm thinking of trying hipp

If aptimil works, use the aldi 0ne instead, uts half the price and exactly the same!

Rio5555 · 13/08/2020 19:09

We used Hipp after someone on here recommended it as being gentler on tummy’s. Got on really well with it

MrsCl19 · 13/08/2020 19:14

What bottles are you using? We had this problem with dd when using tommee Tippee swapped you MAM and no issues

Illegitiminoncarborundum · 13/08/2020 19:23

We switched to Aptamil and Dr Browns bottles

clo1992 · 13/08/2020 19:27

@MrsCl19 Tommie tippie bottles. Anti colic teats. Iv heard good things about the mam bottles. How do they work?

@clo1992 I literally just swapped it. Partly because obviously she now has dairy free milk so needed to come off the dairy stuff. She had runny nappy's for a few days but now perfect. I also have the MAM bottles. They are self sterilising too which is great. They have small holes in the bottom of the bottle which the air escapes out of making them anti colic. This is covered by a rubber covering so they don't leak.

Xx

We had exactly the same problem with Cow & Gate, swapped to Dr Brown Bottles and Aptamil and DD was fine from there.

If you do swap it might take a couple of days before you see the full effect of the change.

MrsCl19 · 13/08/2020 19:40

@clo1992 the MAM bottles are fab, Easy to clean can sterilise in the microwave. Deffo recommend if you have boots card sign up to parenting club and you can get a free bottle, worth a try x

We had similar problems, put baby on hipp organic, used mam bottles & a drop of infacol before each feed and he seemed to get better. Also spent ages burping him - after every ounce he drank we stopped and burped. I do think time helped also, as he grew more his digestive system seemed to get better.

clo1992 · 13/08/2020 20:43

Got some hipp powder and I'll order some mam bottles. I do hope this works 🤞🏻🤞🏻
