I'm a ridiculous worrier, and I've just had my test results in. 1/4479

With my first 2 years ago it was 1/13000.

I know its a different pregnancy but the numbers have scared me this time round.

1/4479
Nuchal Translucency 2.7mm
Maternal Age EDD 31.47

It does say low risk on my letter and no further tests but I'm still concerned.

That’s 0.02% chance which is a really low chance of your baby having Down syndrome

That's a nicer way to hear it, for sure.

I had similar results earlier this week; 1: 4975 or something. It's my first baby so I have nothing to compare it to, nuchal fold was really small so I assume it's mainly down to my age (36). I've chosen to be relieved and happy it's considered low risk and not worry about it for the time being. If something else turns up on the 20 week scan I'll deal with it then.

Can you afford to get NIPT privately? Or do you think that would only make you worry more?

My first was 1/800 chance and I thought that was low . Then with my second it was 1/11,000.

Both were low chance though !

I assume my increased age has a lot to do with it, I've crossed one the age lines that automatically increase the risk.

I think part of me just expected it to be about the same this time so it was a bit of a shock.

Unfortunately the private tests are a little out of our price range.
