So I’m booked in for a sweep next week. By this time I’ll be 40+4. Kind of hoping little one will make appearance before then but I’m a FTM and no first babies can be late! I was just wondering how you ladies found your sweep? Was it painful? What are the chances of going into labour afterwards? Did you bleed? I’m a little nervous as I want to just go into spontaneous labour but naturally want my baby here as soon as poss 😊 thanks

I had a sweep at 39+5 and it wasn't painful, just a bit of an unusual sensation. Unfortunately my cervix was padlocked shut and it wasn't successful but despite my midwife trying to break me open there was no bleeding.

Less uncomfortable than a smear test. I did bleed but I had an ectropion so I bled throughout pregnancy. My first sweep didn’t do much, the second one I was 1 cm dilated and I think she must have gone to town as I had constant contractions following it and he was born 6 hours later.

I had a sweep before both.
The first time it didn’t do anything as I had to be induced the next day but I’d a great labour, 6 hours , straight forward. No bleeding.
The second sweep, I always say she sweeper and mopped, she must have seen my face as she said “I just want to give you the best chance” 😂 it wasn’t painful but uncomfortable.
I went into labour that night and had an amazing birth. 6 hours again.
Best of luck.
Hopefully it works for you.
