Hi all,
I dont want this post to come accross insensitive or anything and I know many others have struggles with abnormalities in pregnancy, I have had a private 12 week scan nhs one 2 weeks away as there was confusion with my dates as they are very busy, I am terrified of whats to come further down in pregnancy as I always fear the worst, I dont even want to tell colleagues or anyone till after 20 week scan. Anyhow when my mum was pregnant with my brother she was told he had DS she decided that she will still be having him and turned out he didnt, he has a chromosome difference leading to mild autism, I know on NHS scan they do Nuchal measurements bloods etc to assertain if you are high risk of DS, I just get very anxious, i read online about the nasal bone, if it is present it can mean less risk of DS, I have attached a couple 0f pics can anyone else see one? I showed a close friend and she said she couldnt and said theres nothing I can do, I know things can go wrong at any stage. I also know people might say to me that this isnt correct place to ask things like this and to wait for scan just seems forever away, I am just that bit anxious

Thank you x

When e had our Harmony scan + blood test (private as not available on NHS) the doctor said he could see the nasal bone which, he said, was positive news.

When I had my 12 week NHS scan she didn't look for it or mention it. I asked her about the nasal bone and said I understand that its a good indicator and that the doc had seen it at the Harmony scan. She said they no longer look for it as many babies don't have one, at least not visible, so its not a good indicator for Downs.

Congratulations! Smile

I actually think I can see one clearly on your pictures but I’m not a sonographer! It hasn’t been mentioned at my 12 or 20 weeks scans so don’t think it’s routinely checked unless bloods come back as concerning.

I can clearly see one?

In the nicest possible way I think you need to stop trying to self diagnose. What if a bunch of randoms on the Internet who have 0 knowledge or experience in sonography say they can’t see one? What will you conclude? You are stressing yourself out for no reason.

I have 2 children and didn’t even know this was a thing, I just had the screening test you described.

If the sonographer had any concerns they would have told you
