Hey! I'm nearly 14 weeks and due 10th Febuary! I'm just wondering when everybody started buying stuff, and what first? I'm thinking more furniture first as I like to be organised (not finding out gender so not going crazy on clothes) ive bought a wardrobe and draws/changer as a friend was selling them.

This is our first baby and I've absolutely no idea where to start! MIL offered to buy a bedside cot for us but do i get one of those and a proper cot for the nursery? Please help 😟

Hi @Chazzii95 😊
Congratulations 🥳
We are due our second baby in April.
Baby will need to be in your room for at least 6 months and I would definitely recommend a crib that can attach to the side of your bed like the next 2 me.
I would recommend getting a steriliser of some sort. We had one that went in the microwave for my daughter and that worked just fine but you can get electric ones.
Lots and lots of Muslin cloths!
Mamas and papas do a great free parents to be event and give lots of advice on car seats etc!
I don’t think I bought anything until about 22 weeks first time round but it’s whenever you’d like to really 😊
Getting the nursery sorted is a good idea because you won’t have the energy closer to your due date and it’s a good place to store the bits you do get 😊

DC1 was due end of February and we bought most big items in the Black Friday sales (you could also wait until the Boxing Day sales).

That weekend we bought:

Bedside crib with mattress (we got a Snuzpod but if buying again I would get a Tutti Bambino Cozee, because it can be folded up easily for travel)

Cot bed and mattress (cot bed is better than cot because it lasts longer, DS (3) is still in it in toddler bed mode, and could use it for longer if we didn't want to turn it back into a cot for DC2)

Pushchair

Car seat

And probably more stuff that I've forgotten, but they were the main ones!

We bought smaller things closer to my due date, January and February I think.
