FTM here, trying to sort hospital bag - really not sure what people wear during labour?

i'd planned on just wearing a comfy sports bra because I knew it was going to be hot. By the time the hospital admitted me at 2am after 16 hours of labour I just stayed in the long top i'd been wearing all day.

Hospital gown for the labour. I had some cheap button up front nighties from Primark for after, which were handy for skin to skin and breastfeeding. Also took some giant dark coloured joggers for going home.

Hospital gown! I had some button up pyjamas I’d intended to wear but they made me put on a gown.

Was naked (I was boiling - also in a heatwave) but had EMCS so they made me put on a hospital gown.

This time will have ELCS so hospital gown again.

Both labours too quick to change so the tops I had on, but then promptly whipped off for skin to skin once they were born. I don’t think I really had anything specific to wear just planned a comfortable top and bottoms - I always planned for complete skin to skin without clothes, there are sheets for covering up anyway. You don’t worry once your in the throws of labour anyway

I was in another country so they just gave a hospital gown. I tied it with the gap at the front. I can get claustrophobic with the fabric around my neck.

Tbh, I ended up naked for the first (it was a very difficult birth)

For my 3rd (due in October) I'm going to ask the hospital for a gown again. In the ward as well. You can bleed a bit and I find it a waste to dirty perfectly good clothes like that.

The hospital just sends all the gowns to launder in special machines. A few more don't make a difference. I find it silly that women are supposed to bring their own clothes. I suppose a lot of people hate the idea of a hospital gown. As if it's a bad omen or something...

Nothing! Started off in a vest top but was far too hot, stripped off and didn't care by the end! Packed button up pyjamas and nighties for afterwards which were perfect.

A nightdress for the first. Naked for the second. But they were two completely different experiences. Second was so much more natural, I gave birth on my knees holding on to the back of the bed. Hoping for a very natural relaxed experience this time around again.

I think I started in hospital gown things but ended up but naked. DC2 covered in shit from head to foot too. She was very very late.
