Hiding the bump

Hi folks, I'm nearly 7 weeks on first baby and not showing yet

My boss, the business owner, is a bit of a twit. I'm due a pay review soon, so I'd like to wait a little longer before I say anything.

Wondering if anyone has any clothes tips to stay discreet please?

[notes

  1. Yes, I know it's illegal for him to discriminate, but as I say, he is a twit so I'm not giving him the opportunity.
  2. I am Health and Safety so have already done my own risk assessment- I am safe.]

Any tips welcomed!

I doubt he’d even notice! I only started looking pregnant about 18 weeks, first time mum too.

Unless you are very slim, you are unlikely to show until 14-16 weeks. Try and have the pay review asap.

I'm really slim and my bump didn't really show until about 16-18 weeks. Just wear baggy clothes.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.
I’d recommend cardigans/blazers (if you can bear them in this heat!)
Or just go for loose fitting tops. If it’s 1st baby you most likely won’t be showing for a few more weeks xx

Umm, I showed a large belly at 9wks, I was very swollen and very obvious which was "great" when I miscarried.... Not everyone has a flat belly until the 2nd trimester, and I was a size 14-16.

Wear fitted clothes rather than loose would be my advice.

eBay have some amazing smock dresses. I'm 17 weeks with my second and it hides it well

I told my employer at 25 weeks and no one noticed at all. I was sz 8-10 pre pregnancy and this is my third baby. I probably started showing around 20 weeks but still was not obvious at 25 weeks with the help of floaty tops and dresses. Everyone is different, but you probably have weeks yet.

What about one of those fashion type scarves that hangs/draps over the chest of that hangs similar to a long necklace? Making sure it comes over the bump though. Similar to these pics (but not this scarf pattern!):

It’s not just clothes but like others have said there are outfits that are better than others - try them on at home to see!
I’d also suggest sitting down and holding something in front of you helps. As does resisting the urge to bump touch all the time.
I hide my pregnancy from my employer for ages. It really helps imo having a bloke boss. They seem to notice less!!

I got away with not telling anyone until 20 weeks (no terrible reason, I just preferred to keep it to myself until then). My mainstays were a really asymmetrical baggy dress, a big smock shirt thing and a jumper that hung straight down from my boobs - basically, all ambiguously-shaped things that created the illusion that any bulk was the clothes rather than me. It helped that all those things were clothes I already owned and wore - so, no sudden switch in wardrobe. (It also probably helped that I have a history of yo-yo dieting so tend to change shape all the time anyway!)

Thank you all, it's good to hear! I'm meeting him this week--two senior managers have left in the past fortnight and I'm helping with cover, so it's a good time to discuss my position. He's famous for avoidkng pay rises, so I expect him to make me wait until September (when I would have been there a year).
I'm quite slim (but not skinny) size 8-10 🙏 no sickness yet so I'm hopeful I can play the game at my own pace 🤞
