36+1 - is it prelabour?

So, I’ve been having period pains & fairly intense backache for the last couple of days. I have managed to get to sleep at night, but been woken on and off by crampy feelings. I called the midwife unit and got told to take some paracetamol, have a warm bath (we don’t have a bath!) or hot water bottle. She said if I’m up to it then keep active, that this sounds like my body warming up but it doesn’t mean labour is imminent.
Has anyone had anything similar that’s progressed into labour, or should I expect to be feeling this for the next few weeks? (This is baby #2 by the way!)

Any help is much appreciated! Smile x

@Eddy2008 I've had this since 35+1 and still nothing at 38 weeks lol... totally normal I've been told and heard some still go overdue.. x

That the problem with labour, it could means your very close, and it could means you are still weeks away. I wish there was some kind of timer that would ping when they are fully baked. How did you feel the last few days before your older child was born?

Thanks for your replies Smile

With #1 she was back to back, so all I felt was excruciating back pain - I had no idea I was in labour until my waters broke! But this is like period type cramps, but with tightening sensations. It's all majority stopped now! Except for a dull ache in my lower back.
I suppose I should get used to this feeling for the next few weeks! x

It sucks (to quote my tween!). I know you are meant to stay up and about, but if you have a back ache, try and get comfy on the sofa and get someone to bring you a cup of tea 😁

I was sitting on my ball but then I started to worry I might do more bad than good so I've got myself comfy on the sofa! That cup of tea sounds like a good idea too Grin
