So confused

I had unprotected sex with my partner once last month. It was on the 20th July. I didn’t think there could be any chance at all I could get pregnant as I was due to come on my period on the 27th July. My periods are fairly regular, anything between 26-30 days.

The 28th comes and I wake up in the night with intense cramps and bleeding. I had blood on my pyjama pants. This lasted throughout the day, although the bleeding got lighter. I also had some bleeding on the 29th but by the evening it had completely stopped. I was confused by this as my periods are always 3 days.

I took a pregnancy test on the 31st and there was a very, very faint line. All other tests I tried were negative so I passed the first test off as an evap line and assumed I had a shorter than usual period.

Last night, I was thinking about the situation and still didn’t feel reassured so I did a clear blue digital. I thought it would come up with a ‘not pregnant’ and I could move on. Nope, to my utter shock it showed ‘pregnant 1-2’.

I just don’t understand it at all. I have a 3 year old daughter and early pregnancy was nothing like this. No implantation bleeding. I was also pregnant early last year and had no bleeding. I had an abortion because we wasn’t ready at that time. I am so confused and don’t know what to do. Is there any chance it could be a false positive? I don’t know what steps to take next. It is completely unplanned so I’ve been very tearful this morning.

Hi OP. It doesn't sound too much for concern as your periods are quite short anyway, but if you are worried maybe call GP? I took a clearblue standard and digital one when I was first pregnant and they both showed positive. I know that recently a few people are having problems with the digital ones being incorrect.

It's possible you ovulated late this cycle. I'm not sure about the bleeding - implantation?
My understanding is that the chances of a false positive on a digital are tiny.
Sorry if that's not what you want to hear, OP.

Maybe I ovulated later. I don’t have any symptoms when I ovulate so I wouldn’t know.

I think I’m going to contact the GP on Monday. It’s the bleeding that has confused me and the dates. I don’t feel pregnant either whereas I did with my other pregnancies. I just want to know either way so we can make a decision.
