Newborn clothes

Is anyone struggling to get newborn clothes. I'm just talking the packs of sleepsuits, vests etc essentials. I've been about 5 different branches of boots plus Primark, Asda etc etc and just can't find anything newborn.

Anyone else having this problem or can shed any light on it? Are we just having a massive baby boom due to lockdown or is it something more sinister (lighthearted)

I've found the same, newborn and up to 1 month seems to be sold out everywhere!

ButterflyRuns · 07/08/2020 15:42

I’ve struggled too, had to send hubby to quite a few shops to get everything.

peachypetite · 07/08/2020 15:47

I’d imagine it’s caused by supply issues due to Corona.

peachypetite · 07/08/2020 15:48

Recently got some from M&S and next and tu

YesINameChangeEveryDay · 07/08/2020 15:56

I found the same but recently managed to buy a few things from next.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 07/08/2020 16:02

Oooh I'll try next. I managed to get some outfit bits in H&M and a friend was selling a bundle on Facebook too. Just strange it's only newborn that seems to be gone though. They have all the other sizes. I also stupidly gave all DS neutral newborn stuff away as we as stretched for space after he was born

I've had the same problem. I now have enough to get by with for the first few weeks when the baby arrives though. I've managed to order vests and babygrows from Next, M&S and John Lewis. I've had to leave multiple tabs open on my phone or laptop and check whether the items have come back into stock each day though as that's the only way I've managed to stock up. John Lewis will email you to say an item is back in stock if you register interest in an item which is more helpful.

Sainsbury's also has some of the small sizes in their larger stores.

It has been a problem getting hold of the essentials for quite a while.

Supply chain issues due to Covid, no baby boom - it hasn't been long enough :)

Rainy88 · 07/08/2020 16:17

What's everyone getting as their first size? Newborn or up to 1 month??

peachypetite · 07/08/2020 16:19

@Rainy88 depends on the retailer. I look at what weight the size goes up to because isn’t consistent.

Hatscats · 07/08/2020 16:21

Yeh got some from Tu and Next. However my Best Buy was a massive sack of 0-3 months clothes £20 off Facebook market place, all in great condition, some Joules, M&S, Maman Bebe, Next, Cath Kidston! So pleased with it all!

Rainy88 · 07/08/2020 16:22

I've found as a general rule newborn seems to be up to around 7-8lbs whereas up to one month is around 10lbs. Not sure which size to go for...

peachypetite · 07/08/2020 16:25

I’ve got more one month than newborn because if baby is on the bigger side the newborn stuff will be a waste.

I did this last time and then had to rush out and buy newborn stuff 🤣

I've got a pack of 7 newborn vests, but I don't think my little one will fit in them going by the midwife's measurements. I'll pack a couple for the hospital just in case. I've bought all of the babygrows in up to 1 month and twice as many vests in this size than the newborn vests. As they go up to 10lb I think they will be the best fit if the baby comes out weighing around the 8lb mark.

Rainy88 · 07/08/2020 17:02

@peachypetite That's my thinking too, I don't want to buy too much newborn and it never gets worn but then I'm not sure if up to 1 month might look massive on a newborn? FTM so finding it hard to judge what to do!

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 07/08/2020 17:04

There's absolutely loads of stuff on FB marketplace and Ebay and it's so much cheaper than buying new. I have a few new bits for my baby who's due soon, but most of it is second-hand - they grow out of the newborn stuff so quickly that everything is in great condition!

Genuinely think this is the way to go at the moment. Better for the environment too and love getting a bargain

Up to 1 month works well for our 8lb baby and did last him about 4 weeks without swamping him

TheAquaticDuchess · 07/08/2020 19:49

I can’t find things anywhere! I’ve got about 6 different people looking out for me in case they spot any. I’m struggling with anything up to 3 months

peachypetite · 07/08/2020 19:58

@TheAquaticDuchess next have a decent amount of sleepsuits In up to three months

bee222 · 07/08/2020 21:18

I’ve managed to buy plenty of newborn stuff at M&S

RWK29 · 07/08/2020 21:26

Managed to get lots of neutral coloured vests and sleepsuits etc from M&S and Next online over the last few days 😊 was struggling for a while but things are starting to come back into stock 😊 Have visited a couple of shops and had no luck with smaller sizes at all...everything in store in my area seems to be 6-9 months or above.

Mommabear20 · 07/08/2020 21:33

Try Tesco! My MiL has to do a mad dash for us as DD was waaaayy smaller than babies on either side of our family!
Definitely weren't expecting a small baby! 😂

Charlottejade89 · 08/08/2020 12:40

Yes I. really struggling too, managed to get a few bits on next and in asda but only in store, everything online is sold out in nearly every size. Im jot due til December so still plenty of time but I may have to go on leave at 28 weeks as I'm a healthcare worker so I wanted to get it all sorted sooner rather than later
