Being inducted Monday, just wanted some positive stories as all I've heard is horrendous ones

Following, I’m being inducted Sunday and feel the same way!! x

I was induced in 2018. Very positive experience. I think I was induced at 2.30pm and baby was out at 10.09pm. I did have to get a little cut (which I didn't feel) but all in all it was fine. Good luck!!!

I was induced at 37 weeks last year.

Gel pessaries, then having my waters broken didn't send me into labour. The drip certainly did. Needed some morphine to handle the contractions, but was ok without an epidural. 11 hours of drip and 20 minutes of pushing later I had my baby. Zero interventions, and only a minor second degree tear.

It might not have been the labour I had wanted, but it was far from being a bad labour.

Was induced earlier this year. Ended in an EMCS but was all absolutely fine

One thing I would say is that induction brought on much harder, faster contractions than if I’d gone in to labour naturally but dilation was very slow. Take all the drugs if offered! Good luck!

Had an induction in May as over due date. Initially very nervous but was a very civilised and a positive experience. It did take 2 days for induction to work -propess and drip, (this varies for different women) so you may be quicker or longer- but I spent the time joining a family quiz online (while having small contractions), watching tv shows and reading and walking around the ward corridors. You should be put into a private room during the induction and delivery, and then afterwards go into the ward unless you pay for a private room after the birth. (I did and it was worth the money as I just felt I needed the privacy after such an emotional event) When I was 4cm dilated they moved me into delivery ward. They monitored me and baby all the way through and midwives checked up on me every 15-20minutes to begin with then stayed when I started having more painful contractions. I felt very looked after and safe (concerning COVID-19) and never felt ‘abandoned’.I did ask to have an epidural (as I’m a wimp) but even that wasn’t bad. Go in with the view that it’s short term pain (as labour is no matter what) for long term beautiful and worth it gain. You’ve got this. The hospital staff were great and answered all my questions and were very supportive when I was screaming and making weird noises throughout the final stages of labour. However- I can’t compare as i was FTM, but if you have the oxytocin drip contractions ramp up fairly quickly hence why I had an epidural. I’d be happy to be induced again. Congratulations on little bundle when they get here!

3 babies, my induction was my absolute fave of the 3!!
Honestly, my last birth was my youngest / daughter and it really was great. I was terrified but it was calm and nice and relaxed. The pessary didn’t work for me (given at 9am) nor breaking my waters (11.30am). Once the drip was put in (3pm) I started to get going and my little madam was in my arms by 6pm. My others two births were really traumatic so this one was a dream. I’m glad I got one nice one 😆

2018 had pessary/arm/drip
Defo make sure your epidural is in place before you get the drip but it was totally fine. I had an episotomy but that wasn't bad or anything

Pessary in at 11.30am. By 11.30pm period pains, asked for psrscrtemol, by 1am it was ouchy, asked for codeine and went back to bed. 1.30am more frequent asked for a check, to my suprise 4cm dilated, wheeled to delivery suite and was then 5cm dilated, partner arrived and waters broken. All pain stopped, but I could feel myself pushing.
Fell asleep between contractions, midwife was tryig to get me to use gas and air (I wasn't a fan and it was pressure not pain so didt work anyway!)
2 hours later they checked me and I was 10cm and she was halfway down, so a few pushes and baby was here!

Was the complete opposite to what I thought, but was totally fine in the end :D xx

Was induced with my 3rd (and last!) pregnancy, at 36+6 as I was really unwell. Cervix was "very unfavourable" according to the midwife who gave me the pessary at 6am.

I went back to sleep till 8 and then started walking. Up and down the stairs, round and round the ward, until dh got there at 10 (sorting out other kids!).

More walking.

Checked at 1pm - I was 1cm! So kept on walking.

At 4pm contractions finally speeded up a bit. Checked at 5pm - was 5cm so they had space for me in delivery. Gas and air! Hooray!

Got urge to push (and no, it's not a "wee pushy feeling") around 6. She was born at 6.30, waters went with second last push.

So 12.5 hours.

I think it partly went well as my body had done it twice before and I knew what to expect. Others had been a 37h nightmare ending in ventouse (10lb back to back!), and 2nd had been a totally straightforward vaginal birth just 10 days early.

Loved my induction!! Far better than my “natural” birth although there’s nothing natural about any of it if you ask me.
Had an epidural as contractions are much stronger with the drip, dozed until it was time to push, could not believe I was 10cm then had a good time pushing baby out!! Felt like an exciting race.
Good luck and however your baby comes out, the only thing that matters is getting it out safe and well!

I was induced in 2014 with first child DS 10 days early, when I went in and had my first gel they told me my cervix was high and it was unlikely it would do anything I had no pains nothing, so sent me on a walk I walked up 3 flights of stairs got the top and my waters went at 2.40pm then my contractions started very strong, went back down on to the ward and was 4cm i stood up until it was time to push i gave birth at 4.09pm. 2 hours 29 minutes my total labour 6 minutes pushing and pushed 3 times, I had gas and air, the midwives where in shock as they was refusing to check me till 6pm and told me id weed myself till I begged to me checked, just try and keep as active and on your feet as you can gravity really does help

While mine wasn’t the most fun I’ve ever had in my life, it was relatively quick. You always seem to hear stories of inductions lasting forever but that wasn’t the case with me.

Pessary in around 3pm, period like cramps started within 5 mins. Didn’t need any gel or the drip. Ramped up fairly quickly, was exploring pain relief options by 7pm.

Main issue I had was that the midwives didn’t want to check me for 24 hours, however I progressed a lot faster than they expected. Frankly, she made me feel like I was making a fuss over nothing. Finally managed to convince her to check me around 2am by using the magic words “I feel like I need to push!” and I was 6cm!

Suddenly I was getting rushed down to the labour ward and told to call my husband ASAP! 🙄

Had an epidural shortly after (best. thing. ever!) which did slow things down. Had a long nap while I dilated to 10cm, two hours pushing (which isn’t as bad as it sounds as you have no concept of time in labour) and out came DS just gone 11am.

Same thing happened to a friend who was on the same ward that night and she nearly ended up giving birth in the corridor! So I’d just say don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself and speak up.

Contractions started mildly 1am Sunday
Proper contractions 3pm Sunday
Waters artificially broken 8:30pm Sunday
Had epidural/hormone drip due to pain and no progress
Started pushing 1pm Monday
EMCS 2:45pm Monday

Was it the water birthing hypnobirthing thing I had planned? Absolutely not.

Did I feel in control and positive the entire time and look back on it with very fond memories? Yes.

I was induced last year with a pessery due to have quick labours and I wouldn't make it to hosp 2 hours away if not. I was 3 days away from my due date. From 1st contraction to baby in arms was an hour. All went fine two little stitches on the inside. Was back on the ward within 3 hours.
