Scan date or last period?

Hi,

I had my first midwife appointment yesterday and she put in my file that I was 10 weeks 2 days, but I had an early scan back in early July and it would mean that today I am 11 weeks and 3 days today.

She told me not to worry too much about what she had written, but for my own peace of mind and to know where I'm at. What do I go on? I'm assuming the scan I had at 7 weeks and 2 days is accurate?

Early scans are less accurate than the dating scan you are due to have. It is very likely that once you have that scan the due date will move again. My EDD was brought closer but it could also be pushed back. Last period date is probably even less accurate but before your dating scan this is what has to be used officially.

@MAJKER30 the date you get at your 12 week scan is supposed to be the most accurate one, they put that 4 days ahead of what my lmp and early scan gave.

I would wait for your 12 week scan, they can date you very accurately then.

Any dating prior to the dating scan is just there is give the best estimation of when to do the dating scan to get the various measurements they need and then date the pregnancy. A few days to week here or there won't make much of a difference. Your around 11 weeks plus or minus a few days depending on lmp or early scan.

Definitely wait until your dating scan for more accurate date.
Based on my LMP my midwife gave me the date 21/01, an early scan at approx 6 weeks gave me 01/02
I had my dating scan at 10 weeks and they changed it to 28/01 and then at 13 weeks I was still measuring for 28/01 so I had a few dates give to me until I was 10 weeks then it stayed the same x
