Clomid Success stories?

Hi everyone,

I hope no one minds me posting this here but it occurred to me that people that Clomid has worked for will more likely see this post here that the TTC boards.

I’m on my second round of Clomid (have PCOS), on day 8 of my cycle so just waiting for my scan and hoping there’ll be signs I’ll ovulate!
Last round they could see something on the scan but suspected it was a functioning cyst, progesterone test at day 21 confirmed I didn’t ovulate which was frustrating.

I’d love to hear some Clomid success stories to give me a bit of hope for this month or even from anyone going through it now too.

They have kept me on 50mg this round due to the cyst but will increase next month if no pregnancy.

Feeling pretty anxious this month but trying to be positive! Xx

I've not been offered any scans! Just here is the clomid and off you go. Will I be fine??

Hi! Sorry, I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if you had an update @Emilyh92, I’m taking my last clomid tablet tonight for my first cycle trying it, and this thread has given me some hope that given a few cycles clomid might just do the trick. I was just wondering how you’d got on?

Hi @LFH1990 :)

In cycle 2 that I originally posted about I did ovulate that month which I was really happy with as after the first cycle I was worried Clomid wouldn't even help me to ovulate. I didn't get pregnant that month though unfortunately.

Then cycle 3 scan there were no signs at all that I was going to ovulate on the same dose of 50mg. I did the day 21 progesterone blood test and confirmed I didn't ovulate which I was so gutted about!

They then put me up to 75mg but I decided to take a couple months break as I was getting so stressed out with it all and I didn't want the face that I was really stressing about it to harm my chances.

I'm now on cycle 4 though and took the 75mg, I had a really good scan last week that showed 2 follicles at a good size on one side and another smaller one on the other side about 12mm. So just waiting for my blood test on Thursday now to confirm if I ovulated or not. Fingers crossed!

I really hoped it would work quicker than this for me but I'm trying to stay positive. Hopefully this will be the month. Good luck with your first cycle! I feel like Clomid really does work for so many, just the waiting can be so hard.
Send me a message if you want to chat as it's nice to talk to others going through this too!

Hi @Emilyh92 how did you get on with your blood test? I’m on my first round of clomid, have to say though I’ve had a couple of days where I’ve felt some side effects. Hot flushes, bloated.

Hey @Suki2020!

Really well, I feel like this has been my best cycle so far. My progesterone was 64! She said they are looking for anything over 30 to indicate ovulation.

So now I’m just waiting for my period (but hopefully not) or to do a test. I ovulated early so I’m now 15 days DPO, but also still only on CD25 so I’m really unsure about when to do a test. Trying to leave it as late as possible so might do it Tuesday which is CD29. It’s torture though I’m so impatient and really trying not to get my hopes up!

Are you still taking the Clomid now or waiting for your scan? That’s a shame about the side effects, it will all be worth it though! Hopefully we’ll both get a positive test soon! X

@Emilyh92 wow that’s great news. You had quite long cycles before didn’t you? I have cycles anything from 36-64days. Did your cycles shorten on your first cycle of clomid? My hospital doesn’t scan until the second cycle of clomid. So it’s just a waiting game. I have one more tablet to take. Taking it day 2-6. I’ve had a shorter period this time too, normally it’s 6/7days this time 4days.

@Suki2020 my first cycle was 29 days, second was 30, third one was awful, nothing happened and I had to take Provera again.

This is the first cycle I’ve ovulated early and I think maybe it’s because of the higher dose.

This round I had a really short period too, like 3 days. That’s never happened before but this was the month Clomid has worked the best for me so maybe that’s a good sign for you!
X

@Emilyh92 aww I hope we both get our BFP this cycle. Have you ever read the book it starts with the egg? I’ve started reading it last couple of days. I’m finding it really interesting. Did you take any supplements before starting clomid to try regulating your cycles? I took Angus castus for 7month which I think did help to shorten them slightly but never had two cycles the same. I worry I’ve left it late to try for baby no1. I’m 34 in April and OH is 35. I’ve been off the pill since i was 31 😬

@Suki2020 no I haven’t read it! I might order it though as I’ve heard about it loads of times.
I tried myo-inositol for ages, probably about a year and a half. It did help a bit but hard to tell as id still have cycles that were all over the place sometimes. But in general they shortened and I did feel like it was because of that. I stopped taking it as I think my body became used to taking it and I felt like my cycles were getting really irregular again, like 50-70 days long.
I really don’t think you’ve left it too late, so many people have their first in their mid thirties now and you’re still only 33!

Hi hope you don’t mind me jumping in, first post on mumsnet!
@Suki2020 I feel like we’re in a really similar boat, I’m 34 in March and my husband 35 in Feb and I also feel like I’ve left it late to start trying for baby no1, although it’s taken 18month to finally be able to start clomid! I’m just about to start my second cycle tonight but feeling a bit down about it ever working. Fingers crossed for us all! X

Hi @Sarah21387 it’s so disheartening isn’t it. I’ve been off the pill 3yrs but it took over a year for my periods to return. Do you have long cycles too? How did you find the first round of clomid?

Report
Sarah21387 · 25/01/2021 06:20

@Suki2020 due to being diagnosed at 18 with PCOS I don’t have periods very often, I can go years without! I take norethisterone to bring on a bleed so I can take the clomid, think it’s the same as provera? I had slight nausea and hot flushes during the night on the 50mg of clomid but I took 100mg last night before bed and haven't had anything other than a bit of a hot flush in the night so hopefully no nausea this time.

TrufflyPig · 25/01/2021 06:32

I had long cycles (anywhere between 40 and 60 days) and irregular periods, the clinic suggested clomid for a bit just to see if it regulated my cycle but they did warn mne it might not work so I wasn't very hopeful. It actually worked first time! I was then able to conceive my second child naturally.

Good luck with everything OP, sending hugs.

I'm 34 (husband is 37), 17weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with PCOS around 5 years ago. We did metformin (regulated my cycles) + provera (to reset cycle at start of treatment) + letrozole (which is a better option than clomid for some women). Multiple scans each month to confirm ovulation or not and became pregnant on our second cycle. I had great consultant led care at Guys and St Thomas' in London. It's a tough journey especially as so many people were getting pregnant around me when we were struggling. Good luck to everyone!
