Small baby?

So I’ve just had my first growth scan at 28 weeks exactly and he’s 2lb 3oz. His measurements were all roughly in the 20th centile, apart from the femurs which were on the 13th centile.

Anyway, sonographer said that’s absolutely fine and no concerns. Doppler was good too. But now I’m panicking because that seems really small. I’m only 5ft and OH (other half) is only 5ft6 so I don’t expect a big baby anyway, just scared that he might drop further 😫 not looking for advice as such, just needed to vent my concerns x

Wow! We’re almost in exactly the same position! I had a scan today at 27+6 and baby’s estimated weight was 2lb3oz. I’m 5ft4! Apparently as long as it’s above 5th centile it’s normal. They wouldn’t send you home if they thought there was any growth restriction. Have you got another growth scan? As long as baby grows according to line, all is fine xx

@rachelrainbow yeah I'm having regular growth scans anyway because I have low Papp-a. So back again at 32 weeks and 36 weeks.

The lady who scanned me didn't even bat and eyelid at my measurements or weight, but I'm just paranoid that's really small. I know I shouldn't be concerned if a health professional isn't, I'm just worried now he drops at my next one.

At least I'm not alone in this one😂 although I wish you weren't feeling the same. I dunno about you but I feel like I get over one anxiety and another pops up (like this) x

My LB apparently weighed that at 32 weeks plus had small legs. Chucked 2x weekly scans at me/ talked about inducing me early.... He came out a lanky nearly 8lb baby!

Don’t worry too much, I think it’s inaccurate for the most part as the baby is moving etc. Plus if you’re getting extra scans you can see them growing scan to scan then that will ease your worries. GL x

@ihoeihoeihoe oh wow!! It just goes to show doesn't it. I know he's fine deep down, I just find something to fixate on😂 little bugger better just stay along the curve from now on xx

@Danielle95lab I have low papp-a and am going to be having regular growth scans. The whole thing is making me very nervous. I just wanted to say I hope all is fine and keep us updated on how things progress.

Danielle95lab · 04/08/2020 20:42

@Grumpy19 aw thank you so much for the comment. By the looks of things my placenta is working perfectly after having the blood flow checked, so not a low Papp-a issue at least. Hope that helps with your anxiety as well.
Looks like I just produce small babies, but will keep you updated xxx

It's interesting but this is my 4th dc and although I have never been told I had low papp a with the previous 3, they were all on the smaller side. DS was 16 days over and was 6.5lbs. I am only 4ft 11 though.
Good luck x
