Hello all 😊

I had a growth scan today at 27+6. Baby’s estimated weight is 2lb3oz. After some googling, i’m now worried this is very small.

What did your baby weight at 28 weeks? They didnt say they were worried. Hmm

29 weeks he was weighing 2lb.8oz so I dont think your baby is on the small side at all.. he has followed the line and I am now nearly 38 weeks and he is to be average weight :)

Sounds like the smaller side of normal.

You will have been given a print out of baby’s measurements for your notes. What centile does it say the weight is? Do you have a GAP/grow app chart in your notes?

@rachelrainbow i had a private scan including growth measurements at 27+6 at the weekend and they estimated 2lb 9oz which is the 50th percentile so depending on your height then that doesn't seem that small. Have they marked it on your growth chart in your notes?

@rachelrainbow defo... my wee one is 40th percentile so totally average.

@RowboatsinDisguise dont think baby is on the small side.

@KLM19 Based on my personalised growth chart (white British, of average height and weight, healthy BMI so may differ wildly from OP) 1000g at 27+6 would put my baby on the 10th centile. Extrapolating from that, it is likely the smaller side of normal for many women.

Those scans aren't as accurate as you think... so baby could very well be bigger or smaller than measuring on scan.

Had my last growth scan at 38 weeks exactly. Baby measuring 7lbs 3 oz. baby arrived at 40+5 weighing 6 lb 9oz. So almost 3 weeks later she'd lost weight??

They really just want to see the change in growth (which is why it's sometimes recommended to have the same sonographer.

@RowboatsinDisguise so depends on the mother obviously which she will have been told! I am of the same and 40th percentile so strange you are 10th. As I said as long as they follow the line which is what the look for. .

My daughter was 2lb10 at 28+5. 20th centile according to my notes. Your baby is a week behind that, sounds fine to me!

Anyway she was born just above 50th centile so it isnt really an indicator of what size your baby will be full term Smile
