Hi, I'm currently pregnant with my first and very excited. It's the first trimester, and the gestational age is 7 weeks and several days, so all quite early. However, we've had a scan and we have a heartbeat.

My question (which may not matter much), but when ever I look on websites to look at the embryo's development, it's not clear to me if I'm in week 7, the 8th week, or week 8? It's probably semantic, but a baby that is born is in its 1st year.

If the time since your last period is 7 weeks and 5 days, which week are you in?

You are in week 7, here we'd often say 7+5 xx

Your due date is when you hit 40+0

In the UK its usually referred to as week 7 or "I'm 7 weeks". 7+3 if you need to specify the day.

In Germany where I had my second they refer to the "8th pregnancy week" or say "I'm in the 8th week" for the same gestation. Caused some confusion for me! :) because yes, once you're 7+1 you're technically in the 8th week, not 7th. But most people don't think about it this way.
