Low Lying Placenta

Hi! Just had my 20 week scan and I have a low lying placenta, slightly overlapping the cervix. Just wondering if anyone else has this or anything experiences of it? The midwife did say in 90% of cases it will have moved up by my next scan at 32 weeks. Thanks!

Hiya there are loads of threads on this if you search. Not much more to say really, just a question of seeing if it moves up, assume they booked you for another scan for nearer the due date.

I had this in my first pregnancy, it's really common. The vast majority do move up, mine actually hadn't moved far enough by 32 weeks but it had by 36 weeks.

If it doesn't move you'll need a c section but most likely outcome is that it moves!

Had exactly the same thing. By 32 weeks it had moved quite a lot and wasn't a problem.

Thank you! Yeah they've arranged a scan at 32 weeks. I'm a FTM so was just wondering if it was common for this to happen early on that's all - just seeking reassurance 😂! Thank you 😊

Hi yes I had this at my 20 week scan, had a second scan at 24 weeks because the edge of the placenta wasn’t clear but had completely moved out of the way in just 4 weeks and all fine.
