Chemical pregnancy

Does anybody know how long you bleed for after a chemical pregnancy, unfortunately my journey with my second pregnancy ended last Wednesday and I have been bleeding since then, is this normal? My period only lasts 3 days but I’ve never been through this before so not sure if it’s normal to still be bleeding 5 days on?

The bleed after a CP is essentially a normal period as sadly it was never a viable pregnancy, so you're not actually bleeding from "losing" a baby, the bleed is just your normal period. That's why they say it's fine to start trying straight away after a CP, as implantation was never actually finalised, it was the rise in hCg from the cells of fertilised egg that the pregnancy test detected. It is unusual to have a longer / heavier period after a chemical pregnancy but of course it can happen. I wouldn't be concerned unless the bleed is worryingly heavy or continues for a very long time.

@mrsmummy1111 thank u for replying to my message I really appreciate it, yes Am feeling pretty rotten but I’m trying to stay positive and I believe things happen for a reason so just trying to push forward as well as I can really. Yes i wouldn’t say it’s particularly heavy but just seems to be lingering longer than normal. Hopefully today is the last day and we can keep trying for number 2.

When I had one it was indistinguishable from a normal period, just a week late. No pain either. So sorry that you have to go through this.

@Pumpkinangel you have a wonderful attitude. One thing you need to remember about a CP, as heartbreaking as they are, is that the pregnancy would never have been viable from the get go. At least finding out so early on means you can move past it and continue trying. Best of luck in your TTC journey

@DoubleHelix79 thank u, just hoping it doesn’t happen next time round but I suppose it’s best not to think about it and let nature takes its course. @mrsmummy1111 thank u, yes I’ve had my moments the last few days, it happened the day before my birthday and we had family over the next day for cake and a cuppa, I found it hard cos brother in law etc came over with their 12 week old baby and mother in law handed baby Over to me, I had to act normal as didn’t want them to know, at the time I felt bloody awful, I couldn’t really be doing with them all coming over but didn’t want to cancel last minute as they would have been asking questions etc. Your are right though about the get go, I think i had gotten myself
So excited about having a second baby when I saw the positive result last Sunday that I didn’t even think in my head it could happen even tho only the week before I had read a lot of comments on here about it. It just goes to show it can happen to anyone. Thank u for your support
