12 Week Scan - Question!

SITL1992 · 02/08/2020 13:04

Hi all!

I'm 10 weeks 3 days today; I just wondered when people got their letters from NHS to give them their dating scan?

I haven't heard anything and need to make sure I can clear my work diary to be available for the scan so really thought I would have been given a date by now.

Did other people get their date before now or is this normal?!

I think I had my booking in about 9 weeks and it took about 2-2 1/2 weeks to get my scan letter.. Had my scan at 12+6

@Pol96 thanks! Had my booking in appt at like 8 weeks and bloods taken a week and half ago but heard nothing from the hospital re. scan yet! I'll give it a few more day before I start to get too itchy about it!

My hospital got you to book your 12 week scan at the desk after the booking appointment. Are you sure it isn't like that? I didn't get any letters as they phoned me to arrange the booking, then after that I just scheduled the next one when I was there. I had LOTS of scans and appointments due to epilepsy. This was pre covid though so things might have changed.

SITL1992 · 02/08/2020 13:32

@Cardboard33 midwife told me it would be the hospital who would write to me for the scan, and just said wait basically! I have another appt for bloods next week (no-one has told me why this is needed just 2 weeks after my last bloods were taken but i'm classed as a high risk pregnancy) so I'll double check then - thank you!

@SITL1992 I'm exactly the same 10+3 today and I've not heard from the hospital yet about my scan, I'm expecting it to come this week 🤞🏻 I had my booking in appointment over the phone 3 weeks ago and they said I would be written to and there wasn't anything else I needed to do.

SITL1992 · 02/08/2020 16:32

@Stef92 nice to hear someone else in the same position! hopefully we both get letters this week!

And thank you @FoxtrotSkarloey!

@SITL1992 I'm 10 Weeks +2 and during my midwife appointment last week I was told when my 12 week scan would be. I was told to wait for a pack that would also allow me to register myself on the app that will contain all my appointments.

I'm so in the dark, havent even had a blood test!

Pol96 · 02/08/2020 17:27

@Lucindaa they did my bloods at my scan!

Peach1204 · 02/08/2020 17:41

@SITL1992 I'm 10+4 and haven't had my scan through either. I had bloods taken nearly 4 weeks ago and tomorrow have my midwife appointment over the phone. I'm thinking once I've had that call it will trigger a letter coming through. I'm not expecting too much notice for it e.g receive the letter with the scan being the next week.

SITL1992 · 02/08/2020 17:47

Thanks ladies, quite a lot of different ways of doing things it seems! I had booking in over the phone, then bloods a week or so later, and now waiting for my letter.. Hopefully it'll come soon! It must depend on are as to what order they do these things in!

I don't think there's a set order at the minute with the restrictions, it's just when they can't fit people in.

Has there been any chat of changes to allow partners to 12 week scans? My hospital put an update up saying they're allowed to 20 week scans but nothing on 12 weeks.

From what I've been vaguely told by my midwife, most of my appointments will be done over the phone and I won't meet her until I'm 28 weeks. They also keep calling me from a withheld number which I find odd as I have no direct line to them and have questions to ask about a potential return to office after working from home due to the pandemic - feel a bit lost.

CoalCraft · 02/08/2020 21:59

Mine arrived about two weeks after my booking in appt, but I actually found out the date incidentally ahead of that when I rang the EPU for an unrelated issue. That was a little over a week after booking in.

If you need to know urgently, maybe give the hospital a ring?

SITL1992 · 03/08/2020 11:34

Thanks everyone!

I rang the hospital this morning; they confirmed they send out the letters so just to wait but that I'm not even on their system yet and to call back if I don't hear anything by the time i'm 11.5/12 weeks

I asked about partners: at the moment my area is only allowing partners to 20 weeks scan but this may change but its difficult as they have a small area of the hospital and the issue is footfall with social distancing etc.

Might go for a private scan so that other half can come with (first child and I don't want him to miss out on these things/don't want to be alone!)

@SITL1992 have you received anything yet? I haven't so might call the hospital tomorrow

SITL1992 · 09/08/2020 16:38

@Stef92 not had anything yet - we went away for a long weekend and just got back, no letter. Will maybe wait for tomorrow's post and then ring the hospital!

I have my scan on Wednesday and I’m 14+1 so was told by my midwife there would be a delay due to the current situation. I only received my letter like a week or 2 ago so don’t worry! ☺️

Stef92 · 11/08/2020 07:50

I've been told by my hospital it should arrive today or yesterday - no letter yet so fingers crossed for today

Stef92 · 11/08/2020 13:17

Arrived today. My appointment 24th August which puts me at 13+4 according to LMP but we think I'm ahead of that due to short cycles. Also hospital won't let my husband attend and are charging for a scan photo

SITL1992 · 11/08/2020 13:58

Glad you got your date! My host aren't allowing partners either, so e've got a private scan booked. Still haven't had letter so called the hops, its been sent out this morning and i'm booked in for a week today so I'll be 12+5 then

SLC91 · 13/08/2020 11:30

Hi, I wasnt allowed to bring my partner in with me however our hospital were giving one photo for free and then charging for any further prints. Had my scan yesterday and it was really well organised!

Stef92 · 13/08/2020 13:59

They have brought my scan forward to a week tomorrow 😃
