Hello

FTM here and I'd love any cotbed recommendations. Have been looking at the options on John Lewis but really unsure what to go for.

Thank you!

I asked someone I know who has a shop and was recommended mamas and papas and silver cross for selection. Also if budget is a concern, to buy a cheaper cot and more expensive mattress as that's the important part.

I bought the cotbed frame from Wayfair and the mattress from Eve

Honestly they're all much of a muchness. We got mamas and papas bed which transitions into toddler bed and matching wardrobe and a memory foam mattress from silent night. Does the job. It's well made and we like the fact it turns into a toddler bed so it's 2 in 1 really

I've got the Ikea Gonnat cot bed which seems to be popular. It can convert to a toddler bed so will last for a while and has three storage drawers.

First time I went all out bought a grand sleigh cotbed from mamas and papas, spending far too much money on it, and it was lovely but with hindsight unnecessary. This time around (9 years on) we have just purchased one from the Aldi baby and toddler event for a fraction of the price which I am equally sure will do the job just fine (and has a lovely storage draw underneath).

I'd personally buy a cot then a single bed.

I had a silver cross and you couldn't take just one side off. Bloody awful trying to lie a tiny toddler bed with your child. Just get a single bed.

If you're going for a cotbed which will be in use for 4-5 years, then as with any bed, spend the money on a decent mattress.

The frame is primarily for decoration once you get past the cheapest options.
