Eating in first trimester

I'm 8 weeks, and unsurprisingly my eating habits have massively changed. I can go all day without eating (because I'm not hungry and feel nauseous) and then eat a full meal in the evening.

Or I could just snack all day or eat toast / cereal and nothing else.

Basically I'm not eating 3 meals a day like normal.

Can this cause a problem to the baby's development in 1st trimester. Should you do what your body says (ie don't eat if it makes you feel sick) or fight against it and stick to three meals?

I had terrible sickness with both of mine until 15-18 weeks.. I ate what I wanted when I wanted so I could get through a day. Sometimes even what I wanted wouldnt stay down.

However I have had 2 healthy..fairly normal children.

I just made sure I took pregnancy vitamins so I got everything me and baby needed and also took on plenty of fluids.

Will say with my 2nd every day at work I had to have an egg and bacon roll.... no idea why but I felt awful if I didn't have one Grin

Congratulations!

I didn't eat very much in the first trimester.. Like you I had no appetite, was never sick and I lost 7lbs. Had my dating scan at 12+6 and all was fine! Currently 15+3 and as far as I know all still going well!
Like pp said I take a pregnancy vitamin so I know baby is getting the majority of the things it needs x

Ok that's good to know. I am taking Vitamin D and folic acid every days. Is that enough do you think or should I be taking more?

I ate like a pig in my first trimester and felt so guilty but then struggled to eat in my third trimester and felt just as guilty 😔. I don’t think it makes a difference either way . Lots of people lose weight in their first trimester/ throw up a lot.
