16 weeks - Sharp stabbing pain under bump

Hello,

I'm currently 16+4 weeks and just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same sort of pain around this time in their pg? All day I've been getting sharp / stabbing pain under my bump. It's on my bikini line right in the centre, in front of my pubic bone. It's been occurring on and off all day, even when I'm just sat still on the sofa.

I'm aware it could possibly be something like ligament pain, but thought this was usually more at the sides of the abdomen and when moving suddenly.

Feeling quite anxious, I've had 2 previous early mc and last week I had a small bleed (now stopped). Baby & placenta were confirmed all okay via scan. Yesterday I also had weird discharge which I worried was my plug or part of it at least, coming away. Spoke to my MW who said she thinks it's all okay but to go to A&E if I have anymore bleeding / pain gets worse.

The pain isn't terrible but it's difficult to ignore. Paracetamol hasn't helped ease it either. Feeling very paranoid about it being early labour signs, but I know my anxious mind is likely focusing on the worst possible scenario.

I don't really have any experience at this stage in pregnancy as this is the farthest I've ever got. Would be really grateful to know if anyone else experienced this too and if you found out what was causing it?

I’ve had lots of pulling/stretching pains this pregnancy, and although most of them have been at the sides, some have been central. Your hips do move during pregnancy, could it be something to do with that?

Try to relax if you can. Any chance of having a nap or a bath and an early night?

@crazychemist took your advice on the bath and early night last night and have felt so much better today.

Still had a bit of pain today but it's been more at the sides and pulling like a sore muscle like more what I'd expect to have, not the stabbing pain from yesterday. Hopefully it was just a random occurrence!

@Lottie917 have you looked up pelvic girdle pain? Might be worth a quick google.

I’m 16 +4 days myself and I’ve had sharp pain since around 11 weeks - for me my midwife said it could be my hips or ligament pain as you can get it around that area. It’s on and off and for me only lasts as long as my ligament pain does, but earlier on in the pregnancy it would even hurt whilst using the bathroom, but midwife said whilst it isn’t common, since there wasn’t cramps or bleeding there was nothing to worry about. Baby was all good at their 12+2 scan and very active with a good heart beat!

I’ve also had weird discharge throughout; had thrush about 2 weeks ago which has cleared up but discharge during pregnancy changes from your regular pregnancy; it can be sticky and like mucus. Another thing is if you’ve had unprotected sex with someone the next day your discharge can be a bit jelly like (sorry if tmi! I had a similar concern and was really embarrassed talking to midwife about it when she told me!)

Hopefully that helps you a little bit! Sorry again if I overshared, knowing that info really helped me at the time so I hope that helps you a bit!
