Hello,

I have booked in privately for an early scan. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Do I need to do anything or take anything with me?

Just wanting to hear some of your experiences xx

I had a scan at 8+5 weeks with window to the womb xx it was incredible, the private clinics are so relaxed and quiet. We had to wear masks and only 2 people were allowed in the clinic at one time so we waited outside for a minute first but that didn't bother me. I was allowed one guest with me which was amazing since no partners or visitors are allowed at the NHS scans. But it was incredible so I'm sure you will love the experience ❤️

Not experienced an early scan in the pandemic as I had my early scan at 7+6 in January. I’m 36 weeks now so things are very different but I did go for a 4D scan during this pandemic and it was still very relaxed we just had to wear a mask. But baby wise, depending how early you are, you can see the little flickering heart and mine looked like a little sea horse lol . Drink plenty of water so you get a better image and mine was abdominal , not an internal which was a nice surprise .

Congratulations xx

I've had simar experiences to the previous posters and have also been to Window to the Womb for an early scan at 8 weeks and again at 10 weeks in May & June. Both were really nice experiences and my husband was able to come with me too (he's not been allowed in to our NHS appointments).

Remember your face mask, and arrive with a full bladder (I was asked to drink a pint of water an hour before my appointment).

For me, baby at 8 weeks looked like a little bean shaped figure Smile

Be prepared for internal scan depending on how early you are Smile (they're fine, I didn't find mine uncomfortable or anything at all)

Can't comment on experience but I'm currently 5 weeks with my first and have a scan booked on 22nd when I'll be 8 weeks. I was looking at window to the womb but found meet your miracle instead who only do abdominal scans rather than internal so I ended up booking with them. Really curious to hear other experiences with early scans

I also had a scan at Window To The Womb when I was 8 weeks. I had read on their website that it would be internal as I was under 10 weeks. Despite emptying my bladder in preparation for an internal scan they said they would try on my stomach first. Lo & behold there was a perfect picture on screen of my baby jumping about.
The staff were super friendly & the clinic was immaculate. I chose the last appointment of the day so that it would be quiet & we were the only people there.
