Delivery room request

Would I be completely crazy to request that [where possible and being completely flexible] I give birth in the same delivery room that I gave birth in first time around?

I had a really good labour not even 2 years ago and I feel that being in the same room would give me a lot of comfort and confidence. I feel like I did in there before (only on G&A) so I can do it again this time. I’m already anxious to get home to DS ASAP after birth and don’t want to wait around after epidural etc.

Like I said, I’d be completely fine if the room wasn’t available and get on no problem, but surely there’s no harm in asking? I don’t want my midwife to think I’m mad for asking!

Well, if you don't ask you don't know. What's the worst that can happen? The room won't be available on the day. But it sounds like you are ok with that. Give it a shot, you never know.

You can definitely ask! But be prepared that it might be busy!

Honestly, do you really want them to use their time organising that for you when they could be having a well-earned cup of tea and resting so they are more able to give you better care?

If it would make you more comfortable, definitely ask!

No harm in asking. It's not like you're demanding and I'm sure if it's free when you need it there'd be no problem. It's not that different to requesting a pool.

IME the midwives were so lovely about my birth plan, even when it all went sideways and I needed an EMCS they followed as much as they could.

Definitely ask - if you’re calling ahead ask them then. If it’s in use already they won’t give it to you but this is a normal thing to request, don’t be embarrassed to :)
