Bringing labour on

Hi ladies I'm 37+1 and I'm just wondering if any of you are trying anything to bring labour on eg is it okay to have sex(probably difficult at this stage but willing to try), nipple stimulation, raspberry leaf tea, hot curry etc?

Just had a hot curry myself but not expecting much. I think the baby comes when they are ready and not a moment sooner from what I’ve heard/read.

Why do you want to have your baby 3 weeks early?

TenThousandSpoons0 · 31/07/2020 21:57

Try not to get too impatient until at least 39 weeks... things will happen when they happen! Esp if first pregnancy most likely to labour at 40-41. 37 weeks still fairly early - I know the time will be dragging for you though! Good luck

With my last pregnancy I got to 40 weeks and then tried everything. Bouncing on a ball, hot curry, pineapple, sex every night, 5 sweeps, acupuncture. She didn't come until 41+3. They come when they're ready, not when we are.

Get bouncing on a ball and drinking raspberry leaf tea. Helps baby just get into position, everyone always says they come when they want but I've been drinking raspberry leaf tea for the last few weeks and it's been giving me tiny teeny contractions , it's supposed to help strengthen your uterus in order to make labouring slightly quicker or easier. I know lots of people who swear by it. I don't think it brings labour on though just helps prep your body and I can feel it working my midwife said it's really good. I'm 37+3 what's your due date? Xxx

At 37 weeks baby isn't ready so no need to do a anything.

At 40+5 I was fed up and tried a fresh pineapple. It might well have been coincidence but I went into labour a few hours later.

Also some babies are ready at 37 weeks, they're classed as full term too.. the dates were given off scans are just estimates they can come anywhere between 37-42 weeks, xxx

Smallsteps88 · 31/07/2020 23:56

Also some babies are ready at 37 weeks

The ones that are ready at 37 weeks don’t need anything done to bring on labour.

I was 10 days over the 40 weeks and due to be induced at 42, which I really didn’t want.

I tried it all, raspberry leaf, different postures, acupuncture.

It was sex in the end that I did it. This TMI but I think the ‘manual’ stimulation Got things going. We DTD on Sunday lunch time, I went to bed that evening, got up to go to the loo and felt the head drop and a glug glug glug sensation. I knew I was in business!

denbyellie · 01/08/2020 10:32

@Smallsteps88 yes I know. Hence why I said babies can come anytime between 37-42 weeks.. because it's when they're ready.

I had my baby at 38+6.

I had clary sage baths, expressed, raspberry leaf tea, walked ALOT, curry, sex, pineapple

I actually think walking was the main culprit. I could feel her getting lower and lower as I walked. On the week i gave birth I walked over 10,000 steps each day.
