Which wipes?

I've ordered some water wipes to use initially but I was just wondering what baby wipes people recommend?

I don’t personally like water wipes, they’re too wet (obviously haha) but then I find babies skin needs drying. She had slight nappy rash with these, I switched to the Aldi ones and she’s had nothing since.

Water wipes are great for the early sticky poos though!

Stargazer87 · 31/07/2020 16:39

I've heard that before so I just got some for the early days but then was planning to move onto something else...not sure what though!

How do you feel about reusables? FTM here so haven't tried them out yet but literally everyone I know who's had a baby in the last year or so uses Cheeky Wipes (just with plain water for newborns)

Stargazer87 · 31/07/2020 16:42

I've looked into cheeky wipes but I'm not too sure to be honest...!

Cheeky wipes!

randomsabreuse · 31/07/2020 16:44

Aldi and Lidl (whichever you have convenient access to) have been my favourites over 2 children. Huggies disintegrate and generally annoy me. Other supermarket own brands seem adequate too. I've never moved on from unscented...

SqidgeBum · 31/07/2020 16:45

If you want to be environmentally friendly I wouldnt bother with water wipes or cheeky wipes. Just go old school. Get a batch of face cloths, and just do warm water with some baby oil. I do the same (no baby oil) for cleaning my DD after meals etc.

If you arent too environmentally conscious, I find Johnson's or Aldi good.

Stargazer87 · 31/07/2020 16:48

Just had a look on Boots and Pampers seem to be very highly rated, anyone used their wipes?

I'm a late convert to the Costco Kirkland baby wipes. Huge pack size and really thick, large heavy duty wipes.

So much better than the huggies pure I used for years. One wipe goes a long way so you don't need many each nappy change.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 31/07/2020 16:51

Cheeky Wipes are AMAZING.

Much better environmentally of course, but also cheaper and better at dealing with poo.

I was given a set and didn't start using them till about 3 months because I wrongly assumed they'd be a faff, but I really wish I'd used them right from the start. So, so much better than disposables.

glasshalfsomething · 31/07/2020 16:52

Just not huggies; they’re vile.

Mangomumma · 31/07/2020 16:55

Aldi are the best I've tried!

MrsL2016 · 31/07/2020 16:57

I used one pack of water wipes for newborn and then straight to asda or aldis own. I like both.

Lillygolightly · 31/07/2020 16:59

I hate pampers wipes, I have 3DC and have only used them if it was all that was available for whatever reason.

I find the Aldi Mamia wipes perfectly fine, wet enough to do the job but not so thin and flimsy that you need to use several wipes (like pampers) instead just 2/3.

I know many people do not like Huggies wipes but I must confess I do and often but them when they are on offer on the multipack deal.

Mangoandbroccoli · 31/07/2020 17:06

Another vote for cheeky wipes! Not remotely inconvenient; environmentally friendly; kinder to skin; far cheaper in the long run; and their customer service is brilliant. Literally can not fault them and would include in top buy for all expectant parents.

beexcellenttoeachother · 31/07/2020 17:11

Aldi's are good and cheap. They do biodegradable wipes too which aren't as good but I have started using them as it makes me feel less guilty.

JanewaysBun · 31/07/2020 17:13

Avenoo is the only brand not to give DS nappy rash. Water wipes etc were awful

I don't fancy the cloth wipes!

Chickoletta · 31/07/2020 17:14

Cheeky wipes are amazing!

Stargazer87 · 31/07/2020 17:26

Am I right in thinking that water wipes are the only ones hospitals approve of in the early days? I've heard it was those or cotton wool and water? I've got this weird thing whereby I really don't like the feel of cotton wool!

OP posts:
Burnthurst187 · 31/07/2020 17:27

We've used SO many different ones. Currently using Lidl wipes and nappies. Sainsbury's wipes were rubbish, mainly down to the seal on the pack and the wipes drying out

Enderman · 31/07/2020 17:29

Aldi wipes and nappies are great.

SnugglySnerd · 31/07/2020 17:29

If I had my time again I would absolutely use reusable with perhaps a pack of disposables for outings. Cost and environment-wise they are so much better. Water wipes are really good though, they are the only type that removes a stubborn poo! Nursery use cotton wool and lotion and when I tried that it was much better than wipes but you'd go through a lot of lotion!

Lumisade · 31/07/2020 17:33

Another vote for Cheeky wipes here. I was going through far too many disposables but Cheeky wipes and water are more efficient and there's no rash after using them.

JC12345 · 31/07/2020 17:45

Another vote for cheeky wipes here. They're amazing.

orangejuicer · 31/07/2020 17:49

I wouldn't worry about the hospital and which wipes you go for.

We use Pampers sensitive, found them to be the best.
