How long did you wait after a mmc to ttc, & how long did it take?

Hi, I’m not quite sure where this post goes, but I’m driving myself crazy getting lost on google.

I had surgical management for a mmc on Monday. I was 10 weeks, but bubba stopped growing at 6 weeks.

I’m 33 years old and could not believe we fell pregnant on the first cycle, & my first pregnancy at all.

We want to try again, & emotionally i am okay waiting for first ovulation. However I can find any solid scientific evidence for or against doing this.

Doctors advise waiting either purely because of dating issues (we’d use opk’s so would have a rough idea) or because there is more chance of another mc if you haven’t let the lining build up?

Have any of you wonderful ladies sadly experienced this, & gone on to get your rainbow baby? Did you wait for the first period?

I just want my baby ❤️

I had to wait due to infection and some scans showed it wasn’t complete (sorry tmi) even though I had surgical management. I was advised to wait until I had a normal period but this was delayed due to other things. I got pregnant 6 months after mmc, tried for maybe 2 of those months DD now 3 born happy and healthy!

I had a mc at around 7 weeks on xmas day last year (we conceived two weeks after stopping the pill- so straight away).
It took us another 7 months for another bfp even though we started straight away and i ovulated 15 days after the mc and every single month after doing opk and SMEP!
I am just 5w4 today so hoping this one stick..
Hope you get your rainbow baby soon x

I'm so sorry you went through that Sad

I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in Aug last year, a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks in February this year and found out I was pregnant again in May this year.

Both times when trying again after miscarrying, no one told me to wait. Not sure if it makes a difference but both mcs were expectant management so no surgery. I chose to personally wait for my first natural period after miscarrying both times before trying again, just so I was able to more accurately track dates.

I don't think it matters too much unless you've been specifically told by your Dr not to try again so soon, just a case of personal choice.

MMC in December, but instinct told me to wait for at least 3 cycles to try and get my body back to a regular routine - 4th cycle fell pregnant straight away so ended up taking the PT almost 6 months after my op. I’m now anxiously almost 16 weeks. Do what you feel is right for you but if you can hold out for at least one period I would strongly suggest doing that ❤️ good luck, hope your rainbow comes soon xx

I’m sorry about your MMC x

I had one at 10 weeks in April and it nearly destroyed me. after two failed medical management I had to have a surgical management which also was incomplete. So then had an agonising wait for my next period to see if things would go back to normal. I got positive tests during my first period. My first period after the management was 13 days long! And finally I got a negative test.

I ovulated quickly after that and got pregnant our first cycle trying again. So it would have been 3 months after MMC, 2 months after the management and 2 weeks after a very long period.

Our third rainbow baby is due on the date we found out we lost our second baby. 5th April 2021. we feel very lucky it’s happened for us. Now just hoping for the best.

Good luck x x

@Catchafallingstar15 that’s a lot! I’m so sorry. I had the two failed medical managements too.

I’m presuming because I got my negative test this morning that means my surgical management was successful.

I bought some cheap opk’s from Sainsbury’s earlier so I guess I’ll see if there is anything on there in the morning, and if so, I’ll swap to the clear blue advanced ones
