CRL Measurements at 7 weeks

Hi there,

I’m hoping someone can help settle my mind, or perhaps help me prepare for the worst.

Yesterday I went for a private early scan, at what I believed to be 7+3 to (which I am pretty confident about). During the scan the Sonographer says I was measuring small and the CRL measurements he took were 5.62 and 5.70 which put me at 6+1 which is impossible. There was a heartbeat but when I asked if it was strong, his response was ‘it’s there’.

Now I don’t know what to think. Will the EPU scan me if I explain this to them or do they only scan if you’re in pain/bleeding?

I have read other posts on measuring behind and I’m not filled with confidence.

Does anyone else have any experience of this?

Hi OP there's a very real possibility you are a week less than you thought as it will heavily depend on exactly when you ovulated and when the sperm fertilised the egg and then the egg inbeds in the womb. Even the most seasoned TTCer can be out with the dates as some aspects simply aren't traceable. Try not to panic. And if it helps book another scan for a couple of weeks time. The edd can change a lot for the first few weeks as all babies develop at slightly different times at this stage.

As a comparison my IVF twins at 7+4 a couple
Or weeks ago measured 7+0 and 7+1 and they were 9.76mm and 11.08mm but due to being IVF I am very sure on dates

I believe it's ok to measure up to a week behind your dates but anything more than that can go either way but if you're not sure of ovulation as well then it may not be cause for alarm yet x
