Advice please? Early scan

Hi 😁 hope everyone is keeping well. I have had a bit of a nightmare ten days and I was wondering if anyone had known of anything similar or could offer any words of wisdom x

According to my last period I'm 6 weeks, 3 days.

Ten days ago I started lightly spotting, it continued for nine days, but didn't get any heavier, only there when I wiped, and not enough to mark my underwear. Three times over the nine days there was a spot of red but overall I'd say 95% old brown blood. I've had some mild cramps, but not particularly associated with the spotting (the cramps have been on and off for the last five weeks).

I had an early scan at the EPA this morning. They found one, they thought maybe two, small gestational sacs in the right place, but the one (or two as they weren't sure) appeared empty (I had a vaginal). They think I am either earlier along than I thought, or that it is not a viable pregnancy. I have another scan in ten days time.

Today the spotting has stopped and I've started to get moments of definite nausea. Other than that symptoms seem the same, bit tired, sore boobs etc.

I know if I'm miscarrying there is nothing that can stop it, and my pregnancy symptoms may go on for a bit but has anyone known of anything similar to this? How do I not drive myself crazy over the next ten days 😢

Hey, sorry you’re going through this! Commenting to bump as well. Do you know when you ovulated? And when was your first positive test? Have they done any hcg levels for you? They might give a guide but possibly not the answer.
Unfortunately this scenario is pretty common and there’s not much that can help with the limbo you are in at the moment. You will just have to try and take it easy on yourself and get through the next 10 days, as really only another scan is going to be definitive.

I had my first very faint positive test on July 10th, which got darker pretty quickly. I think that I ovulated on June 27th but I didn't use the testing strips, just a tracking app. I normally have a 28 day cycle but occasionally it is as long as 31 days. We DTD every day until the 1st of July to cover the entire fertile window.

The one thing I'm wondering about is that I had an unusual period the one before my BFP, it's was reeeally heavy and more painful than normal (I think maybe even the worst I have ever had) and I bled heavily for 8 days, then lightly for another 2.5/3 days. Normally my periods are light-normal flow and always five days.

Arg 😩 it's soooo hard not to over-think every little thing, I know in my heart that what will be will be, I'm at least grateful that I'm getting the next scan in ten days, although it's going to feel like a long wait.

Forgot to say, they decided they didn't need to do hgc bloods, they said that they should know enough with the next scan xxx
