I'm 8 weeks pregnant with first baby and have felt ok other than the usual sick feeling (not being sick though) had my momenta of tiredness and lack of energy. But i stood up quickly earlier and laughed hard at something and really low down in my left side near to my vagina (dont know technical terms lol) i felt like a pulling pain which lasted 0.5 of a second. I haven't felt it again and feel silly going to A and E as I'll be there all night and scared of picking up covid! I feel i will be ok.. but what do people think, is that normal? I'll add that during conception i had mild cramps for about a week (like a very mild period ache) which i read is the pregnancy impanting in the 'right area' ... help please x

Thanks! It was bad enough for me to grab my side but literally lasted less than a second. My friend saw and panicked for me but i said i was fine x

I mean this in the nicest possible way but even if it wasn't normal A&E cannot help you. This has happened to me several times in the last few weeks tho so can assure you it's normal. Try to relax a bit- you have a long road ahead

An ectopic pregnancy would be constant pain and feeling very unwell indeed. Not a couple of seconds of pain then normal

Duemarch2021 · 29/07/2020 00:28

Okay then thanks i feel better now.. im aware that A and E wouldn't be able to save the pregnancy if it was ectopic but i began to worry that there might be a rupture which they could identify with a scan and book me in for an op before I bleed but this is my anxiety taking over x

It's most likely round ligament pain

Sorry you’re getting a tough time for mentioning A&E 💐

It’s normal to feel at least a bit anxious during pregnancy and especially if this is your first time (I’m 26wks first time)

What you felt is an absolutely classic description of round ligament pain 👍
Often one sided, low down near your pubic bone, short and sharp, brought on by a cough, a sneeze, an awkward movement or standing up too quick! 😉

I find that sitting down leaning forward is the worst for causing it when I then stand up at normal speed, it can really take your breath away lol x

Sounds like ligament pain it's really unpleasant I had it a lot

Dollywilde · 29/07/2020 07:22

Just agreeing with the ligament pain thing. Everything’s stretching out down there, it’s totally normal.

Riggles78 · 29/07/2020 09:27

Agree with the above for ligament pain! I've had it from around 8 weeks if I sneeze when I'm lying down, nothing to worry about.
