How many weeks am I?

I'm really confused - I had surgery for ectopic on 27th of June.
DTD on the 10 & 11 July.
Had a bleed on July 19th for 4 days. CB digital test is saying 2-3 weeks.
Current blood hcg level is 500

I'm so confused as I didn't have a proper period after my surgery, and didn't think I could become pregnant so quickly. I'm nervous for another ectopic. I had a scan at the hospital but they weren't able to see anything as my level is only 500.

Any suggestions/advice? I'm very nervous x

When you DTD (and therefore ovulated around then since it was succesful) lines up with the clearblue indicator. So it would seem your ectopic removal date is the technical start of your pregnancy. Which is a bit strange. Congratulations though, fingers crossed for you.

Nottherealslimshady · 28/07/2020 19:39

I'd ring your doctor asap though

coffeewithmilk · 28/07/2020 19:44

It's really confusing isn't it!
I've been onto the doctor, going to recheck blood levels in 48 hours to see what the difference is.
I'm just baffled.. don't know how I could be pregnant after having whah I thought was a period on the 19th July

Nothing to do with the HCG from the ectopic. Can last in your system for over a month

coffeewithmilk · 28/07/2020 20:17

@Mummyme87 that's what I initially thought but have been told by 3 different doctors and 2 midwives at the hospital that it wouldn't show such a positive test this long after the ectopic. They've said it's a new pregnancy, but I really don't see how 😞

HCG can stay in the system for up to 8wks post ectopic (I had one two weeks ago), depends on how high your HCG was in the first place. How heavy was your bleed in July? Maybe a heavy implantation bleed?

coffeewithmilk · 28/07/2020 21:31

That's exactly what I was thinking, I said it to the doctors but they said no absolutely not. So I don't even know what to think! It was my second ectopic this year - such bad luck.
The bleed lasted 4 days, stopped and started, wasn't a constant flow but heavy enough to be changing pads every few hours
I'll just have to wait and see if my levels go up or down at my next appointment

Did they check the lab result from your ectopic surgery? Ie - did they actually show that it was an ectopic? And what were your hcg levels at the time of ectopic? Did you get any hcg tests after the surgery? And - you haven’t had both tubes removed for two ectopics I assume (hopefully that will sounds like a silly question to you)?
I think they are jumping the gun to say it’s definitely a new pregnancy, I’m not sure that can be conclusive unless you’ve had negative tests since the surgery, and they’ve reviewed surgical result, etc etc. There are various things that can cause hcg to stay elevated.

That said - There’s every chance it could be a new Preg - you may have been ovulatingas early as 2 weeks post op so you might be around 4 weeks. Fingers tightly crossed for you!

I really feel for you, it must be such a confusing and difficult time right now. I hope you get an idea of what's going on after the next blood test. Please be kind to yourself, you're still recovering from surgery and pregnancy loss and whatever is going on right now with your body, your brain will be in overdrive.

coffeewithmilk · 29/07/2020 06:49

@TenThousandSpoons0 my level at the time of the ectopic was 7000, I previously had my left tube removed, and the last ectopic was within the tubal stump so they removed the pregnancy via surgery. They didn't check the hcg after the surgery and I wasn't doing tests post op because I wasn't checking if they were positive.
I thought too they were jumping the gun when they said it was a new pregnancy but they are absolutely certain it is. Even the consultant says that the hcg wouldn't still be in the system to make a pregnancy test this positive at this stage. It may make a test slightly faint positive but not the blaring positives I've been getting. It's all a very confusing time.

@Evilwasps I hope I get more of an idea what's going on when I get my second hcg done on Thursday. I'm nervous if it goes down because now my mind is automatically thinking it's another pregnancy loss because they've made me believe it's a new pregnancy

This is my test from this morning, the line came up dark straight away

Maybe your bleed was an unusually large implantation bleed and it is a new pregnancy. The positive there is very positive, I guess you could potentially be 5weeks pregnant. You can ovulate without having period first which looks like you may have done.
Hope you get some clarification on thursday

TenThousandSpoons0 · 29/07/2020 14:44

I hope they’re right OP, does sound promising! Good luck :)

coffeewithmilk · 29/07/2020 18:26

I'm hoping it was a heavy implantation bleed.

Fingers crossed it's good news after my second hcg bloods 🤞🏻

Kept my fingers crossed for you OP, hope your alright x

coffeewithmilk · 31/07/2020 16:35

I had a scan, it was an early ectopic pregnancy which I think has started to miscarry. Currently staying in the hospital waiting for repeat bloods tomorrow to see what's happening x

OP posts:
TenThousandSpoons0 · 31/07/2020 21:51

Do you mean you’ve had another scan today? Did you get pain or more bleeding? Seems pretty soon to do another scan otherwise, hope you’re ok. I’m still hoping for the best for you as your hcg levels still may not be high enough to guarantee seeing an intrauterine pregnancy on scan if it was indeed a new pregnancy... so still have fingers crossed!

coffeewithmilk · 31/07/2020 21:59

@TenThousandSpoons0 I had an internal scan yesterday and they could see something small up in the top of the right tube, most certain it's the pregnancy. I'm having more hcg bloods done tomorrow to see what they're doing but more than likely they've probably dropped with the heavy bleeding today. I'll just have to wait and see xx

OP posts:
TenThousandSpoons0 · 31/07/2020 23:19

Oh I’m sorry, hope you feel better overnight at least and get some sleep x

Mummyme87 · 04/08/2020 22:34

How have things been going @coffeewithmilk ?

coffeewithmilk · 05/08/2020 10:00

@Mummyme87 I was called back into hospital as my hcg level didn't drop significantly so it's looking like I have to get methotrexate.
Does anyone have any experience with this? It makes me very nervous x

OP posts:
Mummyme87 · 05/08/2020 10:17

No experience myself. I do know it’s used a lot however. Sorry you’re going through this.

Did you have a tube removed from your initial ectopic?

I am 3 weeks post salpingectomy, bled for a week, then bled for one day a week later, now another 8days Later bleeding again. I noticed Ewcm discharge yesterday so wondered if I was ovulating then this... not sure if it’s normal.
Saw both my consultants yesterday (I work with them) and had to have another HCG level done yesterday as last one was a bit raised (day after surgery). I think this is to make sure I don’t have PEP? Persistent ectopic pregnancy, when particles from the rupture get left inside?

coffeewithmilk · 05/08/2020 11:00

@Mummyme87 I'm sorry you've gone through that.
I had my left tube removed in February 2020 for a ruptured ectopic. Then I had surgery to remove the pregnancy as it was an ectopic in the left tubal stump in June 2020.
They think this hcg hormone may be leftover from the surgery in June as I was never followed up with repeat hcg levels.
Good news that my bloods came back this morning and my level has dropped over 100 in the last 48 hours so she's given me the option to wait a week and recheck the levels, and if they're not dropping more then I can have the injection then.

I remember after my saplingectomy having lots of EWCM probably about 2 weeks afterwards.
I had the surgery on the 4th feb and got my first period on the 14th March and then every month after that. They were a lot lighter than normal but glad they were coming monthly. TTC in May with no luck, and then June was successful but in the stump so obviously just bad luck.
I hope you are feeling better soon, it's an awful rollercoaster to go through, just know that you're not alone, and to be kind to yourself. The emotions ran very high for me post op, so just take time out for yourself
💐 xx

That’s really great news that HCG has dropped again. fingers crosses it continues on that way.

Thanks for that info. It’s so confusing, and a constant worry that things haven’t gone back to normal.
I’m back to work this week (midwife) so nice to have some normality again. My two children are with Granny up north for a week aswell so nice to have some down time

Mummyme87 · 07/08/2020 06:43

My HCG has come back raised, it was only 160 when I had my ectopic and 3 weeks later is 46, so very low but not negative. Consultant reckons I have a bit of the trophoblast embedded. Plan to recheck after two weeks and hope it’s dropped again.
