Pregnancy after TVT surgery

I had a TVT fitted 3 years ago and am now 3 months pregnant with my 3rd child. Was advised at time of op that any future baby would have to be born by caesarian. Would love to hear from anyone who has experienced pregnancy after TVT Surgery, and hear what experience they had during pregnancy and birth. xx

I have just read some past threads, and two people say they have been told they can't have any more children after a TVT (bladder support tape) procedure. Am worried now that I have been given wrong advice by my consultant, especially as he is old and had recently retired!

I had tvt surgery also and I am now pregnant.

Afraid I don't have any info but am very keen to find out too as I'm booked in to have a TVT next week and very anxious about it. Have you had the surgery or are you considering it?

I had TVT surgery last Summer following birth of my first son. It was extremely successful and recovery was very easy. We are thinking of hopefully having a second child. The doctor who carried out the tvt surgery said that any other babies would have to born by c section. I was just wondering was this the case for other people

Hi, can anyone give me info on tvt surgery, only I'm due to have the operation and have been advised that I shouldn't have anymore children but wasn't told why, and I do want more children. Very worried and confused. Can anyone help??

hi, I have been advised that I should have TVT surgery in the future but to wait until my family is complete. I was told that this is because pregnancy and birth would undo the effects of the surgery so there is no point having it now. I think you need to be really sure that surgery is the right option for you at the moment. You should make an appointment to discuss your concerns - don't be railroaded into it. There are other options that might be enough to tide you over until your family is complete - I was told about injectables for instance. good luck.

Hi all, I know this is an old thread but it's very relevant to me right now.
I had the TVT op over 2 yrs ago, but am now pregnant with our third child. Can anyone who has had a child post-tvt let me know what happened? Did they make you have a c-section? did the incontinence return after the birth? I am only 7 weeks pregnant - does the incontinence return during pregnancy? Am really worried about this - anyone with experience and advice?!

Hi KitKatKateM. I am curious if you have found out any more information. I am in the same boat. I had the TVT about 7 years ago and am now pregnant with my 4th child. I am due in March. My ob said it is fine have a vaginal delivery, but that it would probably damage the TVT and I would need to repair again, but that it is a lesser surgery than a C-section. I have seen a few people online that say their TVT held up after vaginal delivery. Do you have any further info you can share with me? Thanks!

I know this is an old thread, but there were some pregnant mom's on here who already had a TVT. I'm wondering how your birth went, if you had a c-section, or vaginal delivery - and how did it affect your TVT? I'm scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks and only have 1 child now. I'm still undecided on a 2nd...

Hi there, I had TVT surgery 8 weeks ago and have attended my follow-up appointment today. I am relatively young (just turned 28) and have always advised my consultant that I may want more children in the future. Today, my consultant advises that there is no evidence to suggest that a C-section is needed following TVT as the pregnancy itself my reverse the benefits of the TVT and that the C-section would be a major operation for nothing. The consultant advised me that there are no contraindications to having a vaginal delivery, but with the awareness that the TVT is very likely to need repairing afterwards. Hope this helps!
I would however, really like to hear from mums that have had a baby following TVT to see how this worked out xxx

Hi everyone in 2012 I had a tvt fitted and got pregnant in 2013 and had my little girl 2nd child delivered by a planned csection. It was very calm and I very well organized.

Hi I’m very nervous just a recap about me I’ve meet someone else after a failed 14yr marriage 2 kids grown up now he left out of blue didn’t even tell me well long story while on my own I had a Tvt fitted about 7 years ago thought I’d be done with men after a long 5 years of doubt I meet someone no kids and now I’m trying for a baby 👶 not sure how This will pan out as I was on the Decapeptyl no injection since August first period last month now I’m late 😉 but I can’t stop worry’s about the tvt I was told never to have kids again or if I did I would C section I’m not bothered about the op I’m more bothered 😕 about how I will be like after the birth I know It’s no confirmed yet and ten feet in front but any info welcome I’m 44 surely I haven’t past it yet
