Hi,

I’m currently 32+5 and I was wondering if anyone had given birth recently or due to give birth soon that knows what the situation is in the Princess Royal, Glasgow with regards to visitors after birth and birthing partners.

I saw they had made amendments recently that you could have partner plus one other person for the birth but does this include time before waiting (for a section) or before established labour with natural birth.

Also are visitors now allowed? Would my 2 other children be able to visit when baby arrives?

I went for a 32 week scan last week and there was a poster at the lifts saying no children but wasn’t sure if this was just to the maternity assessment and scan area or in general.

Thank you

It says “ for the duration of your labour” so that’s before established labour for natural. Not sure about c-section though.

Second link shows visiting still suspended.

You still have time in your hands @Fingerscrossed11, my trust is now allowing 1 visitor a day for 30 minutes in light of the scot govt updated advice, no children tho, so surely GGAndC should be following suit soon? Everything crossed for you!

@LouiseTrees
Thank you, that’s very informative. Only thing I noticed though was that it says under the section when you are in labour you are allowed a birth partner and a designated visitor which times can be arranged with maternity staff but then under visiting says no visitors allowed. Does this then mean you are allowed one birthing partner and one other person during the time you are in labour but after this no visitors at all? Seems weird your other visitor has to arrange visiting times but no visitors allowed.

@ALC1985
Thank you. I’m thinking I will probably end up having to get a c section as last baby (now 6) was breech and had csection with him, this baby is breech/transverse and placenta at 32 week scan was still low lying and only 1cm away where I believe it’s to be at least 2 and some consultants prefer it to be more.
I believe you are discharged quite quickly at the moment all going well but would be strange just having a baby and having no one permitted to come and visit, even if it was for a short period. Hopefully we follow what your trust is doing soon x
