Pregnancy pillow recommendations

Hi all

I’ve been suffering with a really bad back, I’m normally a back sleeper which helps, but trying to avoid it. I’ve been attempting to sleep on either side but nothing is comfortable and I’m only in the first trimester!

I’ve been looking at pregnancy pillows to see if it will help but there are a few different types and most have mixed reviews.

Are there any that you would recommend?

Thanks so much x

Hi @Snorlax86 I started a similar thread the other day and the consensus was the dream genii - I've just ordered one myself so will report back!

Thank you so much!

@Snorlax86 I have the BB Hug me and I can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever bought. It's expensive but so so worth it. I had really bad pelvis and back pain and it's really helped. You can also use it for a nursing pillow xxxx

@Flossie333 and @Trufflepuffpuff thank you both so much for the recommendations! Xx

Bbhugme - definitely! My baby is now 5 months old and we still use it daily for BFing. It was a lifesaver when I was pregnant.

Just wanted to add I’ve got the dreamgenii - tbh I don’t find it that helpful (apologies to anyone who has already invested - im sure it will work for others!). I mainly bought it to try and help me from not rolling in my back while asleep but it doesn’t seem to really work for that purpose as the back pillow is quite small and doesn’t really prop you up very well. In fairness I haven’t really been troubled with any other aches and pains so far (25+ weeks atm) so that might be down to me using it? If I could have afforded it I think I’d have gone for the bbhugme overall!

I’m now 28 weeks and after a few weeks of absolutely horrendous sleep and me being stubborn in thinking a pregnancy pillow would not help, my husband bought me the dreamgenii from Amazon and it’s done wonders! It has stopped me rolling on my back and is really comfy to sleep with :) so I would recommend that to try as not expensive!

Dream geni is good but I thought the gap between the two pillows is quite small and made me feel a bit claustrophobic. I’ve heard great things about the one that sounds like hugme (?)

Trufflepuffpuff · 27/07/2020 09:12

My dreamgenii arrived yesterday. It's not very bulky, so I was a bit worried it wouldn't be that supportive but actually it was pretty comfortable and very effective at stopping me from rolling over. Also quite good that it's not too big as it didn't bother my partner! It is a bit fiddly though to get into position and then when you need to get up (to go to the loo!) you have to faff around a bit. Not sure how it compares to the BBHugMe but it is significantly cheaper. I think it'll work for me and seems to do the job quite well but if you're willing to invest I expect the other one is probably better! It would have to be for that price. It does look huge though?!

I have this one from Amazon and I love it. DH is worried I won’t stop using it after DD is born. Grin

Thank you so much everyone for responding, it’s been helpful to narrow down the options!

I will start by saying I'm an absolute Scrooge when it comes to buying things.
DH bought me the BBhug me for my bday and I was Angry that he spent so much on a bloody pillow when there are tonnes out there way cheaper
I used it one night and I hand to go cap in hand and take back every word I said to DH about how expensive it was. For me it is brilliant.
It's so comfortable for sleeping, reading and just general slobbing.
My DH steals it when he's on his phone in bed and even he says it's comfortable
I shall be using it for bf and also will see what it's like for baby when it's napping as you can tie the ends together and use as like a sleepy head kind of thing
I intend on using it for sleeping even after I've had the baby as I find it comfier than my pillows
I can't comment on other maternity pillows as I haven't used any but the bbhug me has been well worth the price tag
☺️
