2cm, fully effaced and contractions - long to go?

Have been having very painful contractions for around 30 hours now (every 10 minutes ish). Have barely slept and feel awful but managed to drag myself in for a sweep today. I was told I am 2cm dilated (first baby) and my cervix is fully effaced. I have had some blood since the sweep and the contractions are becoming more intense/painful and like shooting pains rather than period pains. Any estimates as to how long it may take to become fully dilated? I just want some gas and air... Sad

My labour went on and on for days, in fact the current baby is debating its exit at a similarly slow speed so you have my every sympathy.
I didn't particularly enjoy pethidine but it did allow me to sleep very well for a few hours and it got rid of the pain. The epidural was also very good that I got at 6cm.

Thanks again everyone. I've done some pacing around the house, had a bath and bounced on my ball. I'm going to try and get some sleep now. Will update you if anything happens Smile

I keep checking as I have this feeling you are ready to deliver this baby. Wishing you as lovely a birth as can be. And sleep!

Hi guys! Our baby girl was born in the early hours of this morning. Everyone is doing well. Thanks for the support on this thread, I called the hospital last night and my waters broke while I was on the phone to them! Didn't quite end up with the labour I envisaged but all that matters is our daughter is here Smile

Congratulations! She’s beautiful. I hope you manage to get some rest (well as much as looking after a newborn baby allows) : ) x

I was 2cm 36 hours before DC was born and I didn't even notice. I was still taking the dogs for long walks and doing house work etc.

I should add that 3 days later I woke up, felt contractions and arrived at hospital fully dilated with a baby an hour later.
