Aching after 12 week scan

I had my 12 week scan yesterday. Baby was facing the wrong way and wriggling a fair bit. My bladder was full and I was asked to go for a walk to see if baby would turn round at all. Baby did turn slightly and we have managed to get a picture. Has anyone felt a little bruised after the scan? I feel like I've done an abdominal work out but really low down. It's quite uncomfortable. I don't want to bother the midwife if this is normal. Thanks

Hi I felt exactly the same after my 12 week scan, the baby was laying in an awkward position so she had me doing starjumps and was really pressing down quite hard, she was telling me to relax my muscles. The next day I woke up feeling battered and bruised on my abdominal area, I think it's quite normal It only lasted a couple of days and then went. Hope that reassures you and congratulations Smile

Omg yes! It lasted days with me. She pressed really hard and jiggled it around to get the baby in to an easier position, had to empty half my bladder too (how do you know what half it's!?) and felt bruised for days

Floulou20 thank you so much for the reassurance. I struggled to even shift positions sitting up last night. It's worth it now after seeing the baby on the screen finally. I didn't have to do any star jumps thankfully or I might have been aching elsewhere too! Hehe

Pol96 I am so relieved I wasn't asked to empty half as I would have struggled. I was desperate by the time she finished. When you see scans on tv they seem to just glide over with no issues and it felt like the scanner was going to go through my skin at one point! Sorry to hear you struggled for a few days. I think I might too

Your right it is so worth it when you get to see baby on the screen the best feeling. Haha I know I felt stupid doing starjumps while she was stood there watching me 😂

I was fine after12 but 20 was brutal! But I had a stubborn baby they struggled to do all the measurements

Thanks for the tip ginfilledcats I'll be aware of it for my next scan too. These are the things no one tells you about pregnancy aren't they!
