Early Detection Pregnancy Tests

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and have been trying to find a post that has similar concerns to mine but haven't seen anything.

My partner and I have been TTC for over 18 months now and were due to undergo IVF following some less than ideal test results.

However, I started to feel pregnant last week (sore lower back, headache, and a pulling, full feeling in my lower groin) and so I did an early detection pregnancy test this week which came back with a BFP!

My concern is that I'm only 4 weeks tomorrow and I've read about so many chemical pregnancies and honestly I feel more anxious than happy at the moment. I'm almost regretting taking an early detection but I'm just really praying and wishing that this all works out.

I also did a clear blue weeks indicator earlier this week that said 1-2 so thought I'd do another next week and see if it goes up to 2-3. Is that silly?

Has anyone got any happy stories following an early detection test please to put my mind at rest?

Hi there. I found most tests I looked at in the pharmacy were "early tests", they just weren't marketed that way (and therefore some were much cheaper!) eg I bought boots own brand for about £4 and the instructions said "up to 6 days early". The clear blue one (which is an identical looking stick) was about £14! I wouldn't regret taking an early one!

I am 7 weeks with my first pregnancy. It's very nerve wracking thinking about chemical pregnancies. I am presuming all will go well and am looking after myself and taking folic acid, not drinking etc.

Take another one tomorrow, and do keep us updated!

Thanks Kittenpeak!

I honestly don't know why I'm so anxious about them all. It should all be a very exciting time, and I am excited, just want to time travel to 12 weeks in, haha.

I'm taking folic acid too, and eating healthy and being a bit more cautious with my exercise so can't do much more I don't think.

I'm the exact same as you! 4 weeks on Saturday and found out a few days ago, been kicking myself as I feel like I'm living in dread of af instead!

But got to try and think positive of all those that find out early and have great pregnancies and just because we know early we aren't doomed - just excited!! ☺️

Ah, that's lush to know Herbys! Congratulations! We can vet eachother through this! Grin

I know it's really hard! I'm just behaving like all is fine. I've booked a scan for 8 weeks too, just for a bit of reassurance.

I'm 7 weeks and don't really have any symptoms (slight fatigue) which make me think the pregnancy might not have taken off, but I'm just behaving like all is well and being healthy.

Now I'm pregnant I totally realise why people don't share the news til 12 weeks. Such a dangerous time before then

MissLC · 24/07/2020 08:04

I know how you feel. We are going to book an early scan too, but want to get to 6 weeks until we book.
Took another test today and it has gone to 2-3 weeks, yay!!
Hope the 8 week scan goes well, I'll keep you in my thoughts xx

@Herbys how are you getting on??
Everything going well here. 5 weeks tomorrow! 😁
I'm starting to feel less anxious now and we're planning on telling our parents tomorrow as if anything were to happen we'd tell them anyway.
What about you @kittenpeak? Have you had your scan?

@MissLC All going well here thank you! 5 weeks on Saturday - feels so slow!

Have to self refer to midwives at 6 weeks which feels like a lifetime away! Also booked an early scan at 8 weeks so just praying I haven't jinxed it all! Trying to remember it's out of my control and to vaguely enjoy the agony my boobs are causing me along with falling asleep at 9pm every night!

Have you had many symptoms yet?

MissLC · 30/07/2020 11:56

@Herbys so pleased for you!
I feel like time is both fast and slow. We managed to get a 6 week scan near us, so not too long for me to wait 😊
My lower back aches a lot of the time, boob pain, random cramp, I've been sick a couple of times but was so bloated and windy last week. Its not as bad this week. I've also woke up at 5 and 6am every morning for 2 weeks which is really not like me. Work is getting so many free hours off me at the moment, haha
