Low Lying Placenta and Bleeding

Hi all

I've had brown spotting from about week 13 of my pregnancy with the occasional red bleed. In my 20 week scan they identified low lying placenta. The day after this diagnosis, I bleed a lot, causing a trip to the hospital and over night stay. I was able to go home but for five days after I'm still bleeding red (like a light period). I have been back once more but because I'm so early (21 almost 22) there's nothing they can do just yet. I've been told a high chance of moving but less so because it's posterior (back of the wall).

Do anyone have bleeding from early on? What happened with it?

I've read a lot on people experiencing bleeding from 30 weeks but not really around the 20 week.

Thanks!

I had bleeding from 27 weeks; I’d have a bleed and go to hospital, spend a couple of days there then be back home for a few days before another bleed. I was told that I may continue to bleed for the rest of the pregnancy or it might stop at some point and I could continue the rest of the pregnancy in peace.
In the end my DD arrived at 32 weeks as my placenta abrupted but that was due to my placenta not attaching properly rather than due to it being low lying and could have happened no maters where it was.
The reassurance I had from doctors when I bled was that it wasn’t bothering my baby and that even if I continued to bleed throughout the pregnancy it wouldn’t necessarily bother my baby and that was the most important thing.
I know it’s hard especially as you’re so early but just take one day at a time and I hope it all settles down

Hi, just commenting that I'm in the same boat, and 18 weeks gone. Seems earlier than most people have this but they think it is low lying placenta. I'm in hospital and have been bleeding, like you describe, light period, for 3 days now, no sign of it going. Just joining in for any wisdom from other responders, and solidarity to you! Rx
