Hi all, I'm just checking to see when everyone had their first contact with their midwife. I'm 10 weeks now, when phoned my GP to say I was pregnant the receptionist told me to go online and fill out the self referral form as the GP doesn't deal with pregnancy anymore. I just got an automated response back to say they received my form but have heard from nobody yet. Obviously with covid there may be a delay. I was just wondering when I should maybe give them a call. I'm in N.ireland btw

Hi OP, when did you submit the self referral form?
I would give them a call to chase it up as the booking in appt normally happens between 8 and 10 weeks (mine was 9 and a half weeks)

@sel2223 I submitted the self referal form when I was 4 weeks +4 it will be 6 weeks tomorrow since I submitted it

Maybe try again I submitted my form literally yesterday and I received in the mail today my 10week scan appointment in sept

I’m in Scotland so just had to call the midwife booking number and got a booking appointment at 10weeks and scan at 12 weeks. Only 6 weeks now so it feels like ages away!!

Lineeyes1986 · 23/07/2020 17:02

You need to chase. I did a self referral at 5 weeks and they called me 2 days later to arrange booking appointment

welshladywhois40 · 23/07/2020 17:15

That feels too long. If they have an admin email group or a contact number I would give them a call as you need your 12 week scan before 14 weeks if you want the combined test.

sel2223 · 23/07/2020 17:49

You should have heard something by now, definitely ring and chase it up.

kezxo · 23/07/2020 18:11

Thanks everyone I'll ring tomorrow and chase them up. Thanks again Smile

Hey just to let you know Northern Ireland is a little different, you do your booking appointment on the same day as your 12 week scan. I didn't get a letter to I was 11.5 weeks for an appointment when I was 13.5 weeks. Dont panic too much but definitely no harm phoning.

@EimB thank you
