I'm due to go for my first 12 weeks scan in a few weeks (in a south london hospital) Do we still need to attend alone or has this been lifted.
I'm absolutely terrified of going alone and finding out bad news, I know that sounds very negative but cant help it.

Thank you

At my trust not lifted and been advised not likely to be for some time. Private places are now letting you take one person though

It varies by hospital so best to ask your own.

Bert2020 · 22/07/2020 20:41

I’m South London too and no changes. Scan today, 3 men waiting outside the entrance.

Big fat no where I am too. DH hasn't been to any of them and I'm 30 weeks. 😢😢
We had a private 30 week scan last week as pp said, they are allowing partners in with you, as I wanted DH to be part of my pregnancy and it was so amazing! It made us both so happy to share the experience.
I definitely recommend you have one, especially with the majority of hospitals not even allowing partners through the doors, let alone the scan!

passthemustard · 22/07/2020 20:55

I had mine 5 weeks ago and felt the same as you.

I told my DP not to come (he was going to drive me and wait in the car) but the letter said I could be up to 2 hours so I told him not to bother.

However the midwife I saw after the scan said that in cases of bad news they bring the partner in from the car park. I said I wish I had known that as I told my partner to stay at work!

My scan was fine and I'm sure yours will be too. Good luck

Depends where you are Gloucestershire hospitals have allowed 1 partner since the 20th. I’m in the south east and still must attend alone

I’m in Essex and it’s still a no to partners at my hospital

islandislandisland · 22/07/2020 22:26

My trust in South East has see started allowing partners to just the 12 week scan. I've spent the entire pregnancy going to everything alone. I feel sorry for those in the waiting room for their 20 week scans being by themselves watching those having their 12 week scans sitting with their partners.

Natt99 · 23/07/2020 08:18

They've just announced that partners are allowed into scans in my area, South East. So happy, as DH can now come to 20 week scan. Hope it becomes nationwide soon

Thank you all, going to keep my fingers crossed and ring and ask a couple of days before x

I'm in south Yorkshire and it's a no here, my midwife said my borough (we only have a population of 300,000) is not allowing partners or opening clinics back up until at least september, being that your in a much bigger area than me I can see it being a while until they are allowing partners in x

Birdy1991 · 23/07/2020 10:13

@Summerrp what hospital? There may be information online, there is for my trust.

Pol96 · 23/07/2020 11:02

My trust have been allowing since 6th July, definitely call and find out as it seems to vary across the country.
